Photographers, artists and other creative professionals must be able to maintain a high degree of color accuracy in their designs. This includes image capturing, digital editing and printing. Sigma Design has worked with Gordon Randal Perry Design (GRPD) in New York City on numerous projects over the past 20 years. On this specific project the client needed a unique and ergonomic new shape and form for their proprietary color analyzing system. GRPD developed the shape and human form factors and Sigma Design took the sketches developed detail parts and an assembly suitable for injection molding mass production. Sigma developed the final assembly including all part geometries and 3D printed a functional prototype for client review. We then developed a complete design package including a set of detailed manufacturing drawings for production.

Developing a new motor and controller for submerged fuel system use has many complexities. The client looked to SIGMA Design to help analyze and develop a compact submersible motor controller design for this unique application. Sigma had worked with AEC in Sparta, NY on another generator development project so we brought them in to analyze the motor design, wire diameters, number of turns, magnetic flux analysis and rotorstator geometry. Sigma developed the mechanical components package and all the digital electronics, pcb and firmware.

The local office of a global power cable asset firm saw a way to improve the field usefulness of one of their current power cable diagnostic technologies. The device measures radio frequency currents to assess the condition of live distribution voltage cables. They had made a rough prototype or proof of idea and were looking for assistance to develop a functional prototype for field testing. Sigma Design developed the prototype and subsequent units which are expected to allow cable testing anywhere in the world. The instruments are supplied as complete, ready-to-use kits, with Radio Frequency Current Transformers (RFCTs), cabling, USB-powered data collection unit and carry case, together with optional software, training and factory technical support

A company was looking for a new tissue embedder and cryo system with unique features and capabilities. When Sigma Design Company took on the job they got all of that in a sleek and user-friendly design. Using photo realistic imaging and paraffin flow modeling in SolidWorks™, the designers analyzed various layouts and the human factors. These variables were meticulously checked in 3D prior to prototyping. All prototyping housing components were made in-house using Sigma’s 3D FDM printer.

Anyone with a gas stove has probably had the scary experience of realizing that they have left the stove burner on. Unlike today’s refrigerators that call you back to the room when you have left the door ajar, most gas burners provide no indication that they are still on. A simple mistake could lead to a deadly fire in your home.
