SRS Hardware AddOn Weight

  • Category Weights
Each SRS AOW (add on weights) pound weight consists of a 1-38 diameter cast iron body and a CNC machined steel taper pin. The body has a diameter hole through the center and a slot along its length allowing it to simply slip onto the sash cord or chain without having to unfasten the existing weight. Dropping the taper pin into the top of the slot firmly locks the weight onto the chain. Multiple AOWs can be stacked in order to arrive at the perfect weight. Once you have removed the weight pocket cover and have access to the sash cord, installing the weights takes under 5 seconds each. We have kept the diameter small to be certain that the weights are suitable for residential sash and will fit easily through narrow residential weight pocket covers.

AOW weights are offered in 10 piece Residential packs as well as 40 piece Contractor packs.

SRS keeps plenty of cases in stock for immediate shipment.

Stackable Iron Weights

  • Category Weights
SRS offers cast iron stackable weights in 1, 3 and 5-pound increments for use in sash with a minimum thickness of 1-34. The stackable feature allows you to easily optimize the weights to match sash weight with minimal waste.

The 1-34 square cross section allows for the greatest weight in a given weight pocket (a crucial consideration when dealing with heavy, wide or insulated units.)

When selecting weights remember; the weight cross section should never exceed the thickness of your sash. Following this rule will ensure that the weights will have adequate clearance and will not collide with one another. This condition is unacceptable and can cause the window to not function.

If you need to determine the length of any given stack of weights you only need to add the 1 pyramidal top once, as all of the other tops nest into the weight immediately above.

Lengths; 1 lb weight: = 1-12 L. (plus pyramidal top); 3 lb = 3-14 L. (plus pyramidal top); 5 lb = 7 (plus pyramidal top).

Case pricing assures our customers the very best price of $1.60lb and all sizes are kept in stock for immediate shipment.

Chain Spirals

  • Diameter 3/4″
Sash chain is fastened to the sash by means of a spiral. The sash chain is threaded onto the spiral and the spiral is then slipped into a 34 or 78 diameter hole bored into the sash stile.

This system is very simple and secure and allows for rapid and easy removal of the chain from the sash for painting and maintenance.

Required spiral size determined by the hole present in sash. In the case of sash that are to be weatherstripped, it can be advantageous to use the smaller SPI 44 in order to avoid interfering with any kerfs, slots or weatherstripping.

SRS Number Tacks

  • RANGE 1-25
Our charming and practical number tacks are traditionally used to match removable wooden storm sash and screens to their respective window frames. In addition, we have seen them re-purposed to mark everything from wine bins to wooden shutters.

SRS numbered marking tacks, based upon the venerable Acro Numbering Tacks, have a pewter-like finish and are made of the original white brass alloy. They are durable, secure and the numerals remain legible even after decades and many layers of accumulated paint. The sharp, angular nail pierces even hardwood and the barb beneath the head anchors the tack down to stay.

The tacks are available in two number ranges, 1-25 and 26-50. One card of numbers is required for the window frame and additional cards with matching numbers are required for the storms andor screens.

Stackable Lead Weights

  • Category Weights
SRS offers stackable lead weights in 10 pound increments for use in sash with a minimum thickness of 1-34. The stackable feature allows you to easily optimize a mix of lead and iron sash weights to match sash weight with minimal waste.

Storm Sash Hangers

  • thick 1/8″
Our storm sash hanger hardware has been designed for either flush or surface mounting of traditional 1-18 thick storm andor screen sash.

There are 4 ordering options for our storm sash hanger hardware:

Option A sets consist of: two head casing mounted brackets, two sash mounted hangers and 2 traditional retaining clips that utilize a carriage bolt and butterfly nut at the bottom of the sash to pull the stiles up tight to the exterior casing or blind stop. In this case, no provision is made to allow for the propping open of the storm in pleasant weather.

Option B sets consist of: two head casing mounted brackets and two sash mounted hangers this set omits the retaining clips and is intended to be used with our popular SA-01 storm stays (purchase separately). This excellent system provides flexibility to secure the storm shut in cold weather while also allowing the storm to be easily propped open for ventilation.

Option C half sets: These are used when a window is already fitted with a storm sash using our brackets and a screen is desired for the warmer months. This set omits the brackets (because they are already present on your head casings) and the bolt, clip and wing-nut assembly (because you swap out the assembly from your storms).

Option RC retaining clips: Used when storms exist, but a traditional manner for securing the stiles is desired.

All the above ordering options can be ordered individually or as a 4 Pack.

Storm hanging tip: our Acro Numbering Tacks are a timesaving addition to your storm and screen sash. No more frustrating guess-work to match storms to the window when putting up the sash!
