Our sand traps operate vertically and their basic use is for separating sand from the flow. As the flow enters the sand trap, it is slowed as it hits the diverter plate, which changes its direction at a sharp 90 degree angle. This allows the sand to separate from the gas and liquids. The sand will then fall to the bottom of our separator where it is held in place by different baffles before being emptied and sent down the line to our gas buster. The baffles will not only hold the sand at the bottom of the tank, but will also allow gas and liquids to move up and out while keeping the sand separate.

Since Steel & Alloy is located in the heart of Utica and Marcellus Shale country, so we cater to a lot of the industries that deal with the exploration of natural gas.

One such, would be the pipe mills that produce the seamless pipe used for drilling sites. With the amount of pipe they produce daily, they have to have a flawless system of storage and tracking. This is where Steel & Alloy stepped in and designed stackable racks for their seamless pipe.

Our racks were load tested to 90, 000 lbs. and were able to be stacked up to five high. Not only did they save space, but also time. The racks were able to be moved with ease, whether by truck or by overhead crane.

In addition to pipe racks, we have also designed and manufactured both storage and transport racks for the mandrels. This can be adapted to any size and any application. We have also designed these for easy of shipment and assembly. Our newest model allows you to assemble to you own width and length specifications!

Steel & Alloy has been working with steel mills since our inception in 1946. One of the most common purchases for a steel mill would be their scrap buckets to haul materials. Though these enormous IMG_0806buckets are made from heavy plate and can get to 15-0 in diameter, they still take a beating during their daily use.
We have provided many different versions of the scrap bucket you see here. The one pictured is actually a 12-0 diameter bucket that we escort shipped to a customer in South Carolina.

In addition to these large scrap buckets, we also have supplied longer, more box shaped scrap buckets for steel mills. This one below had a max capacity of 13 tons.

In addition to our sand separators, we also offer gas busters for your well pad. The gas busters will be set off at the end of the line, down from your sand separators and will collect the sand that has been successfully separated from the flow.

Our normal gas busters are roughly 10-0 long and 5-0 wide but we can fabricate gas busters to any size your well pad requires. We have even done busters up to 320 long for some applications.

The Steel & Alloy design is available in both dual and single register configurations. The single air register is often specified to improve operations. The dual air register is typically used for low-NOX retrofits, where the inner register provides controllable air to enhance staging combustion. Mechanical reliability is a characteristic of all Steel & Alloy register designs.
The Steel & Alloy design (for both the single and the dual registers) features a control ring to damper linkage design that provides superior mechanical reliability and combustion control. The ring is directly connected to each door, and acts on each door with equal force. As a result, all damper doors move together, friction is minimized, and repeatability is considerably improved. In addition to ease of operation and improved reliability, the Steel & Alloy air register gives boiler operators the capability to maintain proper control throughout the operating range.

The Steel & Alloy Low-NOX Burner System is custom-designed for each utility and industrial application. It can be designed for installation in boilers manufactured by any major OEM. The Low-NOX Burner System is available for firing pulverized coal, light or heavy fuel oil, or natural gas; in either single or multi-fuel configurations. The Steel & Alloy Low-NOX Burner System has been proven to maintaineven improve performance and efficiency in a wide range of utility and industrial applications.
Included in the assembly are the Steel & Alloy Dual Air Register and the Steel & Alloy Low-NOX Burner. Also included in many applications is the Steel & Alloy Overfire Air System, which provides the optimum in effectiveness and flexibility (please see separate fact sheets for additional details regarding these components).

Improved Fuel and Air Distributionhepclassifier

Todays stringent environmental regulations, low NOx combustion systems and burners, as well as efficient operation of boilers, demand rigorous control pf the aircoal ratio to each burner from the classifier. The HEP Classifier has the ability to balance the aircoal ratio in each coal pipe served by a classifier, with externally adjustable guide vanes at the outlet to each coal pipe. These guide vanes are designed and positioned to either capture or divert the pulverized coal from entering the outlet. Field experience has demonstrated that individual coal pipes can be balanced with +-2-5% variation.

The Steel & Alloy OFA System can be installed as part of a complete low-NOX retrofit, or subsequent to a burners-only retrofit. In use, it allows greatly improved staging of the combustion air. As a result, NOX reductions are improved, while maintaining or improving combustion performance. The Steel & Alloy OFA System can be provided either as part of a complete low-NOX retrofit, or as an enhancement to an existing installation.
The Steel & Alloy OFA System is custom-designed for each application. The design process considers a wide range of boiler and combustion parameters in order to achieve the optimum combination of port size, location, and duct arrangement. The specific configuration and layout are optimized through the use of computational or physical flow modeling.

In addition to offering our natural gas customers sand separators and gas busters, we have also designed and manufactured our own line of vacuum boxes for drill sites.

These waste tank containers are often used to collect the slurry from the well pads and gives the end user a safe way to store it until it can be hauled away either by a vacuum truck or a a roll-off truck.
