The armature winding is the main current-carrying winding in which the electromotive force or counter-emf of rotation is induced. The current in the armature winding is known as the armature current. The location of the winding depends upon the type of machine. The armature windings of dc motors are located on the rotor, since they must operate in union with the commutator. In DC rotating machines other than brushless DC machines, it is usually rotating.

A stator winding is simply the stationary winding in an electric motor, either for rotary or linear. The stator in an AC motor is a wire coil, called a stator winding, which is built into the motor. When this coil is energized by AC power, a rotating magnetic field is produced.

he primary purpose of a Line Reactor is to introduce a specific amount of inductive reactance into a circuit. When a line reactor introduces inductive reactance into a circuit, in affect it is limiting the current in the line which in turn filter the waveform and attenuates electrical noise and harmonics associated with an inverter drive output. Line Reactors are mounted underneath the Rapid Transit car. In rail systems that use DC current and have pantographs, line reactors are a necessity to smooth out current. Swiger Coil is an expert in remanufacturing these pieces of equipment.
