Welded Steel tanks are available in virtually any size or with any dimensions, from 1,000 gallons to 34,000,000 gallons or larger.
Shell stress is a conservative 12,750 PSI in the AWWA D100 code basic design. It has a minimum roof plate thickness of .1875", a minum shell plate thickness of .1875", and a minimum floor plate thickness of .2500".
All the joints in the tank are welded, fusing the entire tank into one solid piece, thus making it very sturdy and durable. The expected lifetime of the tank is 100 years or more with normal maintenance.
Welded steel tanks can easily be repainted and coating work can be done on-site for easy inspection. Decorative features are readily available, such as knuckles, pilasters, dome or umbrella roofs, and special colors or signs.
