Terronics electrostatic oilers provide a better way to oil steel strip for rust protection, lubrication, or stamping. Most existing methods are ineffective and cause oil handling headaches. Mechanical methods of oil deposition (rolling, dripping, pumping, blade wiping) as well as most semi-electrostatic methods are imprecise and require over-oiling to ensure total strip coverage. This leads to high costs of oil removal, disposal coil handling problems and safetyhousekeeping problems from runoff of excess applied oil both for you and your customers. TDC's electrostatic oilers deliver the most uniform targeting and control of oiling possible. Strip coverage is uniform and typically controllable within +-10mgft sq. With this degree of uniformtiy, 50mg oilft2 (or less) is sufficient to provide complete coverage against rusting.

Terronics Electrostatic Sprayers are equipped with ElectroHydroDynamic (EHD) atomisation nozzles. The EHD atomisation nozzles rely solely on electrostatic forces for droplet formation. No mechanical moving nozzle parts that wear out, nor high pressures producing turbulences and drifting airborne droplets. Through over 20 years of nozzle refinement, Terronics has various EHD nozzle designs available for specific coating needs. The patented EHD nozzles dispense jets in the stable Taylor cone mode and these jets break up in droplets of uniform size. This diffuse spray cloud is attracted to and deposited onto your product, in a special designed and engineered Terronics coating chamber, at transfer efficiencies close to 100%. Single Dart Nozzles have been developed to completely eliminate the erratic and unreliable behaviour of the well known laboratory “needle” nozzles. A single spray plume is produced for applying highly accurate and precise coatings on small objects like medical implants. Nozzle flow rate can be as low as 0.005 mlhr and as high as 60 mlhr.

Several Terronics powder applicators are used to apply corn starch to steel to prevent "stickers" during the annealing process. While this is an industry standard, corn starch in its raw form is not very flowable and is prone to packing and bridgeing in the feeder hopper. For this reason TDC has come up with a proprietary process to make corn starch considerably more flowable and virtually eliminate packing and bridgeing.

erronics' Brush Feeder Technology meters powder and particulate materials in a highly uniform, controllable, and precise manner. Cyclical or instantaneous variation of material feed rates are dramatically reduced compared to other commercial feeders. Principle of Operation A flexible soft bristle of diameter roughly approximating the powder particle size is used as the motive means, providing low contact pressure to the particle and the feeder. The brush has a very large number of bristles which provide a very large number of interstitial sites to receive the powder by gravity fill from a bulk reservoir as the brush rotates. Precision feeding is based on the narrow difference between average-to-peak volumetric fill of the bristles. The very slow rotation of the brush (typically less than 20 RPM) then brings these sites to a "vertical down" position where a combination of gravity and a "flip" mechanism releases and dispenses the powder. Feed rates are a complex function of several design variables: brush diameter, brush maximum RPM, and bristle type and density, as well as the powder's physical properties. Noteworthy is the linear relationship between RPM and feed rate for most powders, enabling straightforward process control. Specific properties of your powder and desired feed rate ranges can be readily evaluated to produce a suitable design.
