We've designed the COM 2000 to be a powerful, compact and efficient radio that will serve all your communication needs well into the future. When developing the COM 2000, we designed for the future. Therefore, all COM 2000's have a RS-232 serial port built in. It is our pleasure to announce that the COM 2000 is cross compatible as a Garmin SL40. EFIS owners can connect the COM 2000 to the panel and send destination frequencies directly to the radio. Additionally, if the EFIS supports the extended codes, it can also control the unit's volume and squelch.
The innovative COM 2KR from VAL Avionics is the first radio to offer complete user interface through the electronic flight instrument system (EFIS) display. This provides full control of transmit and receive frequencies as well as volume and squelch from the EFIS, allowing the COM radio to be removed from the instrument panel. The new VAL Avionics NAV 2000 is the perfect complement to the COM 2000. Created from the same durable design, the NAV 2000 is built to interface with most NAV indicators, past and present. Together, NAV 2000 and COM 2000 are the perfect replacement for an aging KX-170B or Cessna NAVCOM. The NAV 2000 is the thinnest panel-mounted NAV radio available on the market. The NAV 2000 is an effective and easy-to-operate unit that exemplifies the principles of simplicity, durability and innovation that are central to all VAL Avionics products. With features and capabilities that are comparable with more expensive radios and a compact, hard-working design, the NAV 2000 is perfectly suited for type-certificated, light-sport and experimental aircraft. The NAV 2000 was designed for EFIS panels. Therefore, the NAV 2000 uses the Garmin SL30 communication protocol based on NEMA-0183 for maximum compatibility with all current EFIS systems. In addition, if a NAV 2000 is connected through a COM 2000, the whole system will act as a single fully functioning SL30.
Val Avionics strongly recommends the use of a factory-fabricated wire harness with your new COM 2000, NAV 2000 and INS 429. Use of the factory-fabricated wire harness will ensure proper operation, reduction in the occurrence of interfering signals and ground loops and greatly reduced installation time, and provide prolonged trouble-free performance of your new equipment.
