Many chemistries evolve in mist form, with airborne particle sizes that are large enough to be effectively collected through means of mist elimination rather than the use of a wet scrubber. Many of these compounds can actually be collected more efficiently by means of inertial impaction or mechanical impingement than by the continuous recirculation of scrubber water. This also results in savings in energy costs as well as costs of discharge of effluent to waste treatment. Mist eliminators, therefore, are the correct type of air pollution control devices for these applications. Vanaire designs mist eliminator technology for most any application producing acid mist, alkaline mist, oil mist or, in some cases, mists from organics. Mist eliminator designs are available from the simple eliminator that may be 99% efficient on particles 25 microns in diameter, to the more complex and most highly efficient eliminator that is 99.99% efficient on 2 micron particle sizes and 99% DOWN TO AN INCREDIBLE ONE MICRON. The Chromax I is the most advanced chromium ANDOR ACID MIST eliminator available in the industry today utilizing the latest Composite Mesh Pad technology to meet the strictest standards, including "the California Standard", the New Source Mact Standard and the tough individual state AQMD Standard. The Chromax I is a multi-stage unit with each individual stage consisting of properly selected and sequenced mesh pads engineered to remove specific particle size chromium mist and agglomerate particles down. This system then drains the chromium for recovery back to the plating tank. The mesh pads are sealed inside the vessel to prevent by-pass. The chromax is also designed to run dry with an automatic spray wash-down system that keeps the mesh pads clean while returning the chromium rinse back to the plating tank to make up for tank evaporative losses. This maintains a constant tank level as evaporation is balanced with spray wash down volume. No effluent goes to Waste Treatment. THE CHROMAX PROVIDES A TRUE CLOSED LOOP SYSTEM. The Chromax proprietary design is also extremely effective controlling other acid mists such as Sulfuric acid, battery charging, nickel compounds, all metal bearing plating chemistries, alkiline mists, and any chemistries and processes that evolve in mist form.
Vanaire designs and manufactures all types of fume hoods. Standard configurations are shown, but special configurations can be designed to meet individual requirements. Hoods are built of PVC, Polypropylene, or FRP materials. A combination of thermoplastic (PVC) liner with a strong FRP exterior OVERLAY is also AN EXCELLENT DESIGN, providing the corrosion resistance of the PVC and the structural integrity of fiberglass. HOOD SLOTS are sized to develop MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY in capture velocity and air flow. Internal splitting veins are incorporated as required to distribute and equalize flow through the hood. ALL VANAIRE EXHAUST HOODS ARE DESIGNED FOLLOWING THE GUIDELINES OF THE MANUALS OF RECOMMENDED PRACTICE.
Vanaire designs and manufacture corrosion resistant duct systems and Factory Mutual duct systems in accordance with the specifications set forth by the SMACNA Manual on Thermoplastic Construction. Vanaire's "Aire-Safe" ducting is specifically fabricated to meet Factory Mutual's requirements for FMRC approved duct. This duct is designed to exhaust non-combustible corrosive fumes without the need for automatic sprinkler protection where permitted by applicable FME&R Loss Prevention Data Sheets. PVC ductwork systems are fabricated from 316" Type II extruded PVC (con forming to ASTM-D-1784-69) in diameters 6-inches through 24-inches. For diameters greater than 24-inches, Type II PVC sheet stock of 316" and 14" thickness are used (conforming to ASTM-D-1927-67). All elbows and fittings less than 20-inches diameter are butt-welded to assure leak-proof connections. All straight duct sections greater than 24-inches are longitudinally butt-welded to guarantee the weld at 100% of the material strength. All welding is done by Vanaire welders, trained and certified by Vanaire in the method of hot gas fusion PVC welding. All factory joints are welded with no less than four PVC welds on each joint (three out and one in), to minimize the possibility of leaks. All risen duct work is to have blast-gate or locking quadrant dampers. All PVC and Fiberglass duct thickness and reinforcement designs are based on SMACNA requirements for the static pressure of the system. Duct connections are made via the coupling or bell end. Flange connections are available as options if requested. All Vanaire systems are designed in accordance with the manuals of recommended practice, set forth by the American Conference of Governmental Indus trial Hygienists (ACGIH), and the American National Standard Institute (ANSI). Solid Fiberglass Round Duct is manufactured from chemical resistant reinforced-thermoset resin in accordance with product standard PS-15-69. The size of round duct is determined by the inside diameter. Solid Fiberglass Ductwork is also available in filament wound construction utilizing our state of the art filament winding machines. Elbows: Standard elbows shall have a centerline radius of one and one-half times the duct diameter. Laterals: Standard laterals shall be 45 degrees. Reducers, Concentric or Eccentric: Length of standard reducers shall be five times the difference in diameter (DI D2). Minimum wall thickness shall be that required for the larger diameter duct. Straight Connections: Vanaire's Standard joint is the butt and wrap. Strength of the butt joint shall be at least equal to that of the duct itself. Total minimum width of joint shall be 3 inches for 18 inch thickness, 4 inches for 316 inch thickness 4 inches for 316 inch thickness, and 6 inches for 14 inch thickness. Flanges: Flange diameter and thickness are as specified in PS15-69 Rectangular flanges will be the same width and thickness as that for diameters corresponding to the longer sides. Unless specified otherwise, flanges will be un-drilled. If drilling is specified, the number of bolt holes and diameters of bolt holes and bolt circles shall be in accordance with table.
