Facetation is a reinterpreted retrofit of the Butterfly Chair. The strong wool felt is given a subtle tessellation that behaves as a soft structure to provide an inventive and inviting seat. 3mm wool felt, polyester resin
These bowls are part of an ongoing investigation into pleat morphogenesis. Folding and riveting one or more pleats creates the form. The mild steel is etched and resist areas of different iconic western US images are made.
Inspired in part by the mechanism of paper kaleidocycles, this prototype iteration of a side table collapses into a flat circle in a surprising folding motion. 34" birch plywood, 12" tempered glass
Made of a single piece of wool felt, the Packet Bag was designed to simplify construction, minimize visual clutter, and provide unique functionality. The bag can be opened from the top, side, bottom, or unfolded to lie completely flat and has the capacity to hold up to a 17" laptop, while maintaining a sleek profile. The 100% wool felt is durable, water-resistant, and provides excellent padding and impact protection. 5mm wool felt, nylon ripstop, nylon coil zippers.
The Pocket Shelf, which references Miura and Tachi's origami tube, is created by cutting chevron shapes out of thick felt. The pieces are then sewn together creating a shelf that transform from 3D shelves when hung to a flat panel that can be rolled away for storage.
This process involves folding an enclosed mold out of sheet material like paper or plastic. Various casting materials such as resin and chocolate are then poured into the mold and rotated via rotomolding machine or by hand. After the material has set, the mold is removed and the part inside is hollow. Applications of this process range from lighting to chocolate making.
