Welcome to West Fraser

Wood from a sustainable source is an excellent environmental choice for any new construction or renovation. As a building material, wood is renewable, strong and versatile. It also has a low carbon footprint compared to many other common building materials. Wood grows naturally, using solar energy, and is a renewable resource. Using wood instead of steel or concrete means less fossil fuel consumption and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. You might be surprised to learn that wood can contribute to better air quality by minimizing the accumulation of dust and microbes. It is also the only major building material that stores carbon for its useful lifetime. Wood is 50 per cent carbon by dry weight. Carbon remains stored for the lifetime of the product or even longer if wood is reclaimed or recycled for a new purpose. West Fraser’s wood products come from responsibly and sustainably managed forests. Backed by the Company’s advanced wood manufacturing technology, certified sustainable forest practices and dedication to quality, wood is the smart choice for your next building project.
With 35 sawmills in British Columbia, Alberta, and the Southern United States, West Fraser takes pride in being a preferred supplier to both domestic and global clients. West Fraser produces a variety of softwood lumber products that are sold into the North American and export markets. In Canada, West Fraser offers Spruce-Pine-Fir (SPF), Douglas Fir-Larch and Hem-Fir tree species. Discover our SPF dimensional lumber and treated wood. In U.S. West Fraser offers Southern Yellow Pine (SYP) dimensional lumber. Discover our SYP dimensional lumber.
LVL IS A STRONG RELIABLE CHOICE FOR YOUR ENGINEERED LUMBER NEEDS. West Fraser engineered laminated veneer lumber (LVL) is manufactured from northern lodgepole pine. This species is noted for its tight growth rings, small knots and minimal shrinking and swelling which results in a strong and stable wood fiber source. Our LVL takes advantage of these characteristics by offering a high-strength product line. Stiffness (related to E value) is not the same as strength (Fb and Fv) and is not always the controlling factor in design applications. In a marketplace that charges premiums for high MOE products, we can provide a 1.9e or 1.8e LVL that has superior strength properties than much of the 2.0e available in North America. Why leave money on the table by using 2.0e beams and headers when you don’t have to? West Fraser provides its LVL customers with quality design software. The latest fast and reliable technology provides you with an easy to understand output. Our software will enhance your in-house design capabilities and productivity.
Wood pulp can be created through either a chemical or mechanical process, which transforms wood chips into pulp fibres. These pulpy fibres are the basis for an exceptionally wide range of paper products; from tissues and paper towels to cardboard and packaging materials. West Fraser produces two types of pulp - Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft (NBSK) and Bleached Chemical Thermo-Mechanical Pulp (BCTMP). As a diversified forest company, West Fraser supplies the majority of the wood chip fiber necessary for our pulp operations from our lumber mills. West Fraser is a stable and long term producer of wood pulp in western Canada because of our capacity to internally generate fiber. West Fraser supports our quality pulp offering with a commitment to service based on an understanding of our customers' needs, production process and logistics expertise. Our ability to respond to our customers technical requirement is supported by our membership in FPInnovations, one of the world's leading pulp & paper research and development organizations.
