  • Production Volume Low Volume High Volume
  • Applications Packaging Sound Absorption
Our foam contour cutting ability at Williams Foam allows us to cut intricate custom shapes without the cost of dedicated tooling. We have both vertical and horizontal CNC contour cutting machines for cutting profiles on either the X or Y axis. Cutting blades are controlled by precision software that uses customers prints to efficiently fabricate custom packaging, inserts, and handling trays.Polyurethane is available in convoluted foam. Polyether foam is economical, moisture resistant, and has very desirable compressibility properties. Polyester foam is an excellent barrier to gases and special formulations can be used for anti-static applications. Polystyrene, often referred to as Styrofoam, EPS or Beadboard, is a very versatile and economical material available in densities from 0.7 lbs. to 3 lbs. Polyethylene foam has excellent load bearing characteristics and is ideal for providing maximum shock absorption at minimal thicknesses.

Dieless Cutting Services

  • Length 120"
  • Cutting Method CNC Dieless Knife Cutting
  • Machinery Axis 2-Axis
  • Materials Polyurethane Polyether Polyester Convoluted Foam Polyethylene
  • Width 60"
For projects with volumes that dont justify the cost of steel rule die cutting tooling, at Williams Foam, we offer CNC dieless cutting. Material up to 120" long, 60" wide and 5" thick can be cut to any custom shape. Dieless cutting works similar to many other CNC cutting processes such as water jet or laser cutting, but instead uses a fine blade to cut the foam. This process is fast, precise, and designed specifically for cutting foams unique physical structure. The blade is controlled by software and moves along a flat work table. By controlling the geometry and speed of the cut, we can hold dimensional tolerances as tight as 0.125".Dieless cutting can be used to cut polyurethane, polyethylene, and polystyrene foams in a range of densities. For projects that require thick shapes, sheets can later be laminated together. This adds another dimension to our custom cutting and packaging fabrication capabilities. By offering multiple cutting options and value added processes, we can produce custom packaging, inserts, and handling trays, at very competitive prices. For more information about our CNC dieless cutting capability, see the table below, or contact us directly.

Williams Foam is a small, family owned business that uses state-of-the-art water jet cutting equipment to cut foams for the aerospace, manufacturing, and building industries. Our specialty production shop features an expert staff with over 30 years of combined experience. Although Williams Foams new 3-axis Mach 2B Water jet cuts polyurethane, polystyrene, and polyethylene foams to industry standard tolerances of 18", it can easily reach even tighter tolerances of 0.005" per 3' at 68 3F. The Mach 2B Water jet delivers a maximum water jet pressure of 60, 000 psi while minimizing part stress and reducing or eliminating secondary operations. Moving at a maximum cutting speed of 200minute with a maximum kerf of .05", Williams can handle foam thicknesses up to 12" on a cutting table that expands all the way to 120" X 79". In addition to water jet cutting, we also provide foam component assembly, die and contour cutting, and hot wiring. We will laminate foams and sheeting, perforate, and perform skiving. Williams Foam provides quotes on a job-by-job basis, although emergency and rush services are available. Our water jet cutting equipment can produce anything from a single prototype to large volume runs. We are able to work with most major computer file formats, such as AutoCAD (DWG, DWZ), Solid Works (SLDPRT, SLDDRW, SLDDRT), JPEGs, and PDFs.Williams Foam combines the speed and versatility of a small operation with its state-of-the-art water jet cutting equipment to produce outstanding customer service at competitive prices. contact us for further information.

Foam Sheeting

  • Applications Trays Inserts Packaging Returnable Dunnage
  • Cutting Method Sheeting Skiving Sleeting Perforating
  • Foam Materials Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE) Expanded Polystyrene (EPS or Styrofoam)
  • Tolerance (+/-) ± 0.125"
  • Production Volume Low Volume High Volume
At Williams Foam, we offer sheeting, perforating, sleeting, and skiving services that take large bulk foam materials and cut them into manageable sizes for use by customers. We can skive cross-linked polyethylene and EPE foams. Material can be cut into stacked sheets for wrapping, small cubes or squares for packing support, or blanks for further processing. In addition, large rolls can be perforated so customers can easily tear off custom sized sheets as needed. All processes are CNC controlled and capable of holding dimensional tolerances of 0.125".Customers often reach out to us thinking that they need an intricate custom shape when a well-placed standard block of foam will offer adequate support. We can work with customers to develop a cost effective solution to fit their specific application. If a custom shape is required, we offer many different cutting processes including die cutting, contour cutting, wire cutting, and dieless cutting. All lead times are quoted on a job by job basis, with most projects having very fast turnaround.
