Product Licensing Program As the Aerospace and Defense Industries continue to consolidate, the new organizations often find themselves the owners of product lines which do not fit the new business model either because of low volume or lack of similarity to main products. In many cases these low volume products are a vital requirement of a major customer. The options are few: continue to manufacture the product at a loss in order to maintain customer good will, or discontinue the product line and incur the customer dissatisfaction. Wyvern offers a third and better option. We have developed a model whereby we license product lines and pay the licensor a royalty. The original manufacturer gains in several obvious ways. Instead of a money loser, the product line generates the licensor profits. Perhaps, more importantly, the licensor can direct the customer to a reliable source for the product, thereby maintaining goodwill. An excellent working example of this is our licensing agreement with Northrop Grumman whereby Wyvern is licensed to manufacture all OEM electronics and electrical for the F-5 Fighter. We maintain the drawings, tooling and test equipment for all these products and can responsively manufacture factory new parts to the original specifications at a lower cost than the OEM. As a result of the aerospace and defense industry consolidations, product lines are being discontinued, divisions are being disbanded and businesses closed, resulting in the so called "Diminishing Manufacturing Sources" problem. This difficult problem is being experienced industry wide. We offer a solution to many of these problems through our broad based, experienced engineering support group. Through build to print or specification, new design or reverse engineering, we have provided cost effective solutions ranging from a replacement for a radiation hardened I.C. to computer controller and memory printed circuit board assemblies. We are also experienced in qualification and environmental testing, so if a replacement or substitute needs to be qualified we can get that done as part of the task.

We have designed and flight qualified several proprietary products. An example of this would be our 28VDC Blocking Diode Array which protects the power buss on the F-5 Fighter. The original units were beginning to fail due to the aircraft experiencing higher than planned for stress and vibrations. These failures caused short circuits and complete loss of power on the aircraft. Several were lost in flight and several short circuits were found during ground tests. The U.S. Air Force developed a new specification and solicited designs. Of the participating bidders, ours was the only design to meet or exceed all the design criteria and win U.S. Air Force approval. Our Blocking Diode Array now flies on all conforming F-5 Fighters around the world. Wyvern recently designed and qualified another Blocking Diode Array for the Elbit upgrade of the Brazilian Air Force's F-5E Fighters. Based upon our previous experience, we were able to solve several engineering problems and successfully qualify a 120 amp capability unit up from the previous 30 amp unit.
