Powerful Performance
The Cat C9 electronically controlled ACERT engine delivers power while meeting all current U.S. EPA emission standards. All models contain a fuelwater separator, engine air intake heater and a dual-stage combination air cleaner with precleaner.
High Capacity Cooling System
The side-by-side radiatoroil cooler gives excellent cooling capacity for high production bunching and harvesting. On-demand Flexxaire fan activates only when required and allows the cooling fan to purge debris from the radiator area, keeping a cleaner cooling system. The IQAN control system automatically adjusts the Flexxaire fan blade angle, reducing horsepower demand and lowering fuel consumption. The purge cycle frequency and duration can be set by operator in the cab to suit varying application conditions.
Engine Oil
Cat engine oil is formulated to optimize engine life and performance and is recommended for use in Cat diesel engines. Extended oil change intervals reduce maintenance and machine downtime.

More powerful engine, improved cooling system, increased hydraulic pressure, and cab riser options lead to increased productivity and lower operating cost.
Fixed Riser
CAT designed and built, 1.95 m (6'5") manual tilt cab riser provides for operating height with excellent visibility for loading and unloading processing equipment, trucks, and rail cars. Access to the cab is provided by a ladder to the platform extending around the cab riser. This platform allows for windshield cleaning. The cab riser can be manually tilted forward 90 degrees for shipping.
Hydraulic Cab Riser
Optional hydraulic cab riser provides up to 2.6 m (8'6") of additional operating height. There is easy access to the cab platform provided by handrails attached to the riser.
Operator Controls
The ability to modulate grapple open-close function is provided on the right side joystick. The rotate function is also modulated by using a slider switch mounted on the joystick.
Cooling System
External debris filters allow easy access for cleaning. This prevents clogging from dirt and dust entering the cooling system. The optional automatic reversing fan purges dirt and dust from the cooling system.
Generator Set
A 20 kW (26.8 hp) hydraulically driven generator set can power magnets up to 1.68 m (66") in diameter.

Cat Construction Forks for Small Wheel Loaders are wider than pallet forks and designed for heavy duty applications. Fork tines can be configured to allow tines to either swing or stay in a fixed position.

Automatic Engine Speed Control
When automatic engine speed control is activated, the engine speed is reduced to an idle speed of 1000 rpm when the propel lever is moved to neutral or to 1300 rpm when screed heat is active.
Advanced Eco-mode
Eco-mode and automatic engine speed control when activated together modify the engine rpm based on load factors. When activated the engine will operate at 1650 rpm when paving. If the upper power threshold is exceeded, the engine speed will increase to 2200 rpm and remain there until the demand drops below the threshold and remains there for 30 seconds, ensuring reliable performance.

Proprietary Cat integrated engine control technologies keep the engine running at or near the rated speed to maintain an optimized balance of power and fuel efficiency. This technology prevents large drops in engine speed, followed by over speeds, often observed in older equipment. It provides the following benefits:
Estimates fuel requirements, based on engine speed and torque, and needed machine torque, based on hydraulic load (pumps and fan). This technology ensures faster and more consistent engine regulation by preventing lug, which, in turn, reduces fuel consumption.

The Cat 586C Site Prep Tractor is a multi-purpose, heavy-duty tool carrier with the muscle to power mulchers and brushcutters. The cooling system is arranged in two panels for easy access to all components. The air conditioning condenser is in a hinged panel that tilts out for easy cleaning and to access the primary panel with the side-by-side mounted primary hydraulic oil cooler, dedicated case drain hydraulic oil cooler, engine radiator and air-to-air aftercooler (ATAAC). In machines equipped with Tier 4 Interim engines, a fuel cooler is integrated into the same panel as the condenser.
On-demand Reversing Fan
The oversized, hydraulically driven fan spins at a slower speed overall and only turns as fast as needed to maintain proper hydraulic and engine temperatures. In colder weather or when the machine is first started, for example, the fan spins more slowly to conserve power and fuel and reduce noise. Air is pulled in from the side not from the engine or from under the hood preventing debris build-up around the engine. It automatically reverses every five minutes of run time to keep the cooling system free of debris. A manual override allows the operator to activate reversal between scheduled cycles. A heavy-duty fan shroud provides protection when servicing.
The high capacity cooling system and on-demand reversing fan keep the machine running at the proper operating temperature, optimizing performance, durability and fuel efficiency.
