Steel Stair Treads:

For our metal stair products required to meet state building codes the most common sizes for tread widths are 36" (for locations with an occupied load of less than 50 people), 44" (required in areas with an occupied load of 50 or more people), and 48" as requested. We can also accommodate different stair widths as required. OSHA standards allow you to go as low as 24" wide for stair tread width but any width 24" and greater, as long as it complies with the building codes, can be supplied.
Our steel stairs can come with stair treads and landings made of closed diamond plate, bar grating, serrated bar grating, grip strut and also with pans for you to pour concrete in. As stated earlier, if your steel stair requirements dictate a tread not listed we can most likely accommodate that request. Just give us a call or fill out the request to the right and we will contact you to get the specifics.

Ships Ladders

Sometimes you don't have enough room for a full size stair, but you don't want to use a 90 degree safety ladder because you want an easier climb. For those instances you can use a ships ladder (sometimes called ships stairs). Ships ladders have a safe climbing angle between 50 and 70 degrees and have ladder safety rails on both sides. Those ladder rails can terminate with the top tread for use as a roof hatch access ladder, or can extend above the top tread like the handrail on a standard stair design.OSHA fixed ladder requirements do not pertain to ships ladders and neither do OSHA stair requirements. You can see the details in the letter from OSHA below the ships ladder sketch below.
The treads on a standard steel ships ladder are up to 12 apart and 24 wide, but this can be adjusted stair to stair depending on requirements. They can be done as either closed diamond plate stair treads or bar grating treads, but the bar grating tread is the standard option due to its superior slip resistance, self-cleaning design and economic price.
To order a ships ladder we will need to the dimensions of (A) and (B) below. Standard finish is black grating treads and gray stringers and handrail. We can also provide ships ladders in a custom paint color or hot dipped galvanized

A-Mezz Modular Buildings

We provide efficient and flexible demountable wall systems that can easily and quickly be assembled to meet your needs at a fraction of the cost and disruption conventional construction often can be.
Our portable wall systems are used for simple in-plant office space such as a shipping receiving office, a plant or warehouse supervisor's office, meeting, lunch or locker rooms. Our portable wall systems are often also used for more complex needs, such as a process control room, labs, cleanrooms, sound enclosure, electrical equipment rooms or any equipment enclosures. The uses are endless and up to you. Every plant needs rooms. What is your need?
A-Mezz modular wall systems are Green, environmentally friendly. Our wall systems are demountable, 100% reusable and easily adapt to your changing needs. Across the country commercial landlords use our demountable wall systems instead of permanent construction because steel stud where a fire wall is not required is labor intensive, expensive and inflexible in an ever changing environment. One hundred percent of Steel stud and drywall as well as internal electrical must be torn down and end up in a landfill each time a new tenant signs a lease and request a change in the office layout. One hundred percent of our portable wall system (including electrical) is reusable.

Steel Stair Finishes:

For exterior locations, the most commonly used finish is hot dipped galvanized. This metal finish is the most durable and requires the least amount of upkeep for your stair.
For interior applications our most commonly requested finish is a single coat of flat shop gray or white primer. We can paint steel stairs with an industrial enamel finish. Keep in mind that by the time metal stairs are shipped, offloaded from the truck, moved into location and assembled, all painted products will most likely need some touch-up paint as the last step in the assembly process. It is for this reason that the primer finish is our most common interior steel stair finish.
If your stair needs require a different finish don't worry. We have done custom finishes like paint over galvanization, powder coating, and epoxy paint on our metal stair products as well. Just let us know the details and we will be glad to help.
