Pilot Plant Systems

A Pilot plant is a process system that is designed to demonstrate a functional concept prior to designing and fabricating a larger production sized system. Pilot plants are much more cost effective than a full scale production systems, and they can be used to optimize a process prior to production. They can range in size from small laboratory-sized units that are simple to design and require no automation to large custom-assembled and highly automated systems that require a significant amount of engineering and design expertise. Pilot Plants are used in industries as varied as Oil & Gas, Alternative Energy, Scientific R&D, Environmental, Polymers, Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Bio-energy, Food & Beverage and Mining.

Liquid Natural Gas Products

AET has provided products for the rapidly growing liquid natural gas industry. From design-to-build to build-to-print, Ability Engineering follows through to provide our customer with the best product to meet their requirements. Although not always directly contributed to a cryogenic segment, liquid natural gas products and cryogenic service products have many common aspects. For example, liquid natural gas pipelines traditionally were run using conventional insulation methods such as fiberglass, but due to the recent increase in LNG market-space, most have started to utilize Vacuum Insulated Pipelines, which AET has a long-history in designing and fabricating. Some examples of liquid natural gas related products are shown in the slideshow to the right. Please contact us for more information about our LNG-related services. Vacuum Jacketed Transfer Lines

AET Designs and Manufactures vacuum jacketed transfer lines for the cryogenic industry. This application is utilized to transfer gasesliquids with a low boiling point while shielding them from atmospheric interference. These piping assemblies can also include Flex Segments to help with customer connection point allignment. Transfering cryogenic liquid without vacuum jacketing can cost a large amount of money due to heat leaks. Keeping waste costs down can mean more funding for other parts of your project, or in some cases, more end product to sell to your end user. For more information on vacuum jacketed lines, see the tabs below. Cryogenic Check Valve

Ablity Engineering Technology, Inc. utilizes and provides a cryogenic check valve that has been well-established as a go-to solution for cryogenic vapor and liquid flow direction management. The Check Valve is designed to be installed in a vertical position and harnesses gravity to return back to a closed position every time. With a fully welded construction the check valve body is guaranteed to seal and is approved for helium checking services. The AET Cryogenic Check Valve is also beneficial to decrease thermal acoustical oscillations in helium and hydrogen systems. For more information on the effects of thermal acoustic oscillations, The Cryogenic Society of America has an article written by Dr. John Weisend that can be seen on their site here.
