A spiral wound band is a tube of abrasive cloth. It is made by first winding a strip of non-abrasive cotton cloth (also known as drill cloth) along a slick cylinder in one direction, and adhering it to a strip of abrasive cloth wound in the opposite direction. The net effect is a abrasive cloth tube with two layers of backing material. Smaller sizes are typically placed onto a rubber expanding drum and run at a high speed air tool. Larger diameters may be used on belt sanders and pedestal grinders, or spindle sanders. While Bands can be ordered to any of the specifications shown below, we reserve the right to cancel orders (and credit your account) for small quantities of uncommon specifications, or to insist on quantities in convenient multiples. Our bands are at first made 36" wide and then cut to their required widths. For unusual diameters (516", 38", 58", 78", 1-14", 1-34", 2-14", 2-12", 2-38", 4") or uncommon combinations of size, material specification, and grit, a minimum order of two 36" bands of any grit may be required, regardless of normal minimum quantity requirements shown.
