Power Transformers

At AFP Transformers, we offer dry type power transformers in 600 V to 34.5 kV voltage classes. Power transformers may either be traditional dry type transformers manufactured using VPI processes or Epoxycast transformers which have coils directly cast into a tough epoxy material. Transformers are available as open core and coil configuration for integration into panels, or contained in enclosures. Enclosure options include pad-mount, unit substation designs, and all standard NEMA enclosures including stainless steel. An abundance of standard designs are available to fit many applications, but our engineers also have extensive experience in developing custom products for specialty applications. This versatility allows us to efficiently produce transformers at any production volume while maintaining competitive prices and providing fast turnaround.Additional features can be incorporated in the transformer design as the application dictates. Optional features include readouts and indicators, forced air cooling to increase operating kVA percentages, and surge protectors. Most orders are completed in 3 to 6 week with expedited orders completed in as little as one week. A variety of inventory management and stocking options are also available including Kanban systems and JIT shipping services. For additional information about our power transformers, see the table below, or Contact Us directly.

HEATING TRANSFORMERS

At AFP Transformers, we produce a diverse array of transformers specifically designed for use in industrial heating and furnace applications. This includes multi-tap transformers which are capable of accounting for multiple power requirements; saturable reactors or SCR controlled primaries for use in variable output power applications; and Scott T transformers which are used to convert between phases. Low to medium voltage transformers are available in 600 V to 34.5 kV voltage classes with multiple enclosure options. All NEMA standard enclosures, including stainless steel, are available, along with a variety of closures design for specialty applications.High frequency transformers with operating frequencies up to 25 kHz and impedance matching output transformers are available for use in induction heating applications. We have a large inventory of established design options which fit many applications. If a standard design is not well suited to the application, our engineering and design staff has a wealth of experience in developing custom transformers for specialty applications. Standard lead times average approximately 3 to 6 weeks with expedited service available. A myriad of stocking and inventory options are also available upon customer request. For additional information regarding our industrial heating and furnace transformers, see the table below, or Contact Us directly.

CASTBLOCK TRANSFORMERS

The EpoxyBlock transformers we offer at AFP Transformers provide several advantages to traditional dry type transformers. Instead of using vacuum pressure impregnation to apply resin to all the transformer coils, both the primary and secondary coils are directly cast in a mold under a vacuum. As a result, the coils are completely embedded in an epoxy material. This protects coils from contaminates and holds the windings in place during power surges. This makes them a good choice for difficult environments - such as chemical plants; oil refineries; water treatment; mine duty applications. The tough epoxy material is essentially maintenance free and since EpoxyBlock is still considered a dry type transformer, there are no hazardous liquids to pose a safety or environmental risk. Since they do not contain hazardous materials, EpoxyBlock transformers do not require transformer vaults or a liquid containment area that limit placement options and significantly add to the cost of liquid filled transformers. We manufacture a wide range of EpoxyBlock transformers from 600V to 5 kV voltage classes. Some of the most common applications for EpoxyBlock transformers include control power transformers, pad-mount distribution transformers, and neutral grounding transformers used in utility and cubicle applications. For additional information about our line of standard and custom EpoxyBlock transformers, see the table below, or Contact Us directly.

EPOXYCAST TRANSFORMERS

At AFP Transformers, our Epoxycast transformers provide several benefits to traditional dry type transformers. Epoxycast transformers can withstand high power surges as a result of higher BIL ratings. The coils are directly cast into the mold under pressure, instead of using vacuum pressure impregnation to apply resin to the coils. The coil is deeply embedded in the epoxy material, protecting coils from contaminates and holding the windings in place during power surges. The secondary coils are standard dry type processed with a polyester resin in VPI process. Epoxy material is strong and requires little maintenance. As a dry type transformer, there are no hazardous liquids or materials to pose a safety risk. Since they do not contain hazardous materials, Epoxycast transformers do not require transformer vaults that limit placement options and significantly add to the cost of liquid transformers.AFP Transformers manufactures a wide range of transformers from 600V to 34.5 kV voltage classes. Epoxycast transformes are used in a variety of application including control power transformers, pad-mount distribution transformers, and neutral grounding transformers used in utility and cubicle applications.
