An aerospace manufacturer approached Aljo-Gefa Precision Manufacturing LLC. to create a hinge that would be used within the thrust reverser of a jet engine. The customer supplied CAD drawing called out the use of billet aluminum. Fabrication would require precision horizontal milling, including pocketing, profiling, and boring.
A customer in the aerospace industry was in need of a component that required precision CNC horizontal milling. The part was composed of extruded steel and aluminum and measured 38" long and 1.5" wide by 1.25" high. Manufacturing required true-position tolerances of ±0.002", and featured mill slots and boring. Each hinge had to be primed and anodized, then coated with Rulon to withstand the extremes conditions it would face during its service life. We now ship 30 to 40 hinges each month to our customer.
An aerospace company approached Aljo-Gefa Precision Manufacturing LLC. to create a custom aluminum fitting to be used within an aircraft tail stabilizer. The customer's specifications required that the fitting be milled from a 20" x 10" x 6.5" piece of billet aluminum. Machining required pocketing, profiling, drilling and boring, and featuring true positioning of ±.005". Quality was maintained with dimensional inspection utilizing our CMM, and manual inspection capabilities. The tail stabilizer hinge fittings shipped on time, and continue to be delivered according to the customer's J.I.T. schedule requirements.
An aerospace company approached Aljo-Gefa Precision Manufacturing LLC. to fabricate extruded aluminum components which were to be used within an aerospace application. Each component measured between 56" to 86" in length, 2.5" wide, and 4" high, and required vertical milling and profiling. The components required anodizing, priming and painting as well as special packaging.
A military manufacturer required sophisticated machining and assembly of an extruded aluminum end fitting used in the aerospace industry. The fittings, made to military specifications, were 6.125" long by 5.5" wide and 7" high. To manufacture the end fittings, Aljo-Gefa Precision Manufacturing LLC. used a CNC horizontal milling process that consisted of drilling, boring, profiling and pocketing. Final assembly process included press-in bearings, riveting, and helicoil thread inserts that increase thread life even after repeated assembly and disassembly. The customer order for this product consisted of 15 to 30 parts to be produced monthly. Each fitting had to be anodized, primed, and painted before being placed in customer specified packaging, one per box. That's why this aerospace company came to us with this precision CNC turning project. The components, which were fabricated from heavy gauge steel, were designed to spend their service life on a military aircraft. The customer had specific requirements for the steel pins, such as grinding and heat treating for strength and durability. Each steel pin also had to be painted and packaged according to strict requirements.
