Altair Technologies is the leader in designing, building, repairing and supplying both custom and production Linear Particle Accelerators, commonly known as Guides, to Medical and Security OEMs, various research entities, as well as secondary market service providers (such as TOG & Oncology Services International) who maintain oncology systems in hospitals worldwide. We supply both electron radiation and x-ray radiation Linear Accelerators (LINACs) ranging from 1 MeV to > 12 MeV. Altair Technologies is the leader in designing, building and supplying both custom and production RF Windows used by OEMs and various research entities. Our Windows are used on many types of RF devices, but are primarily used on linear accelerators for medical (oncology), industrial screening and national laboratory applications. RF Windows transmit RF or microwave power from a vacuum into an air filled or more likely an inert gas filled transmission line like a waveguide. It is a resonant cavity designed to maximize RF (radio frequency) power transmission, with minimal loss over a desired frequency range.

Altair produces a number of high-voltage and RF Feed Throughs that were either custom designed or built to our customers specifications. We do both low and high volume runs and can equally accommodate metalized ceramics or perform and active metal braze (see Blog Post on Active Metal) to achieve the desired hermiticity.

An Ion Pump is a vacuum pump that uses an electric field to accelerate and traps ions into a solid electrode usually made from Titanium. The embedded ions are effectively removed from the vacuum chamber, resulting in a net pumping action. Ion pumps are commonly used in ultra high vacuum and can attain pressures less than x 10-11. Ion Pumps have no moving parts and use no oil and are commonly used on vacuum devices like linear accelerators, traveling wave tubes and x-ray tubes. Altair Technologies produces both 0.25 liter and 2.0 liter models, which can be modified to almost any configuration and offers the ability to scale these designs as needed. Ion Pumps come with both conflate or weld flanges to meet your specific requirements.

Target Assemblies are critical components of any X-ray Tube, medical or security Accelerator and Positron. For almost two decades and continuing today, we have been building various turnkey Target Assemblies based on our customers design which generally use Tungsten or Rhodium as the x-ray generating target material. In more recent years we designed and developed a family of proprietary medical target assembly products and Exit Windows designed specifically to mate with Siemens and TomoTherapy guides and as a drop-in replacement for Varians high-energy and low energy guides. Not only do we offer our own aftermarket designs, but we also remanufacture the existing OEMs Target Assemblies. Remanufactured targets meet all the requirements of the OEM version, including life expectancy and warranty, but usually at a fraction of the costs.
