Torsion Springs are utilized in products that require a resistance to or application of torque. Once a load is applied to the legs, torsion springs deflect and elongate resulting in an angular return force. Torsion springs are closely wound with various leg configurations, such as straight legs and multiple leg bends. The direction of the wind, clockwise or counter-clockwise, is determined by the application.

Custom Stainless Steel Torsion Spring

  • Product Description Product Description
  • Capabilities Applied/Processes Primary: Custom Coil Winding Trimming Secondary: Heat Treating Packaging
  • In process testing/inspection performed Dimensional Inspection, Visual Inspection Functionality Testing
  • Industry for Use Agricultural Equipment
  • Delivery Location Minnesota
Finished overall dimensions of the spring were 9" by 1.75" using .375 wire diameter, manufactured holding a tight 0.015" tolerance on all formed dimensions. 16, 000 springs were fabricated for this project, custom packaged and shipped to the customer in Minnesota. For more details about this custom torsion spring fabrication or our other manufacturing services please see the table below or contact us directly. Argo Spring was commissioned to complete the manufacturing of a custom spiral torsion spring to be utilized in an agricultural equipment application. Employing on-site state-of-the-art equipment, 17-7 PH stainless steel was manipulated with blanking. The coil spring was formed with our highly developed winding process, per the customer supplied 2D CAD drawings. Excess material was trimmed, and the spring was heat treated to eliminate incurred production stresses and to increase strength and wear resistance. The part was thoroughly tested and inspected for quality and accuracy with functionality testing, as well as visual, and dimensional inspection methods.
