Wave Washers

When a specified load together with limited deflection is required of a spring and the allowable amount of axial space is small, the use of a wave washer can be used to obtain the desired load.

Wave spring washers are especially useful to apply moderate thrust loads when radial space is limited. A wave washer can have any number of waves from two on up; however, factors such as spring index, the amount of deflection required and the load determine the number to be used in the ultimate design. Wave spring washers can be used in static or cyclic applications depending on the stresses generated.

Our broad experience with metal stamping enables us to offer the exact custom wave washer to meet your application requirements. Belleville, Slotted, Curved, Finger and Disc spring washers are also available in many materials and sizes. Our plants are third-party certified to AS9100, ISO9001 or TS16949 and ISO 14001 depending on the markets serviced.

Retaining Rings

Retaining rings, also referred to as snap rings, primarily provide shoulders to locate or retain parts on shafts or in cylinders. Advantages of retaining rings are their economy of manufacture, ease of assembly and accuracy of positioning as compared to threaded fasteners.

The two major categories of retaining rings are internal and external:

External retaining rings are assembled over a shaft
Internal rings are assembled in a cylinder
Special application rings can be produced in a wide range of sizes from a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous materials as well as various material shapes:

Rectangular
Square
Round
Tapered
Beveled
Associated Spring is capable of manufacturing custom retaining rings in a multitude of sizes with oblique configurations in the free-state to maximize ring concentricity in the groove at the installed position. For applications requiring axial load in addition to the radial load at the installed position, Associated Spring can manufacture custom retaining rings with axial waves to meet both requirements.

We are also capable of engineering and manufacturing retaining rings with special end configurations and tabs to locate the retainin ring within the assembly and prevent ring rotation in the application.

Our custom engineered and manufactured retaining rings are available with or without special coatings for lubricity andor corrosion protection.

Our retaining ring product line services the Transportation, AerospaceDefense, Medical, Industrial, DurableCommercial Goods and Electronics markets.

Associated Spring facilities are third-party certified to AS9100, ISO9001 or TS16949 and ISO 14001 depending on the markets serviced.

Torsion Springs

Torsion springs, double torsion springs, torque coils and clutch springs are used to apply torque or store rotational energy. The two most common types are single and double-bodied springs. Torsion springs, torque coils and clutch springs are generally mounted around a shaft or arbor and must be supported at three or more points. Various kinds of ends are available to facilitate mounting. These parts can be manufactured from round, square or various shaped material cross sections.

Torque Coils and Clutch Springs there are many variations of the spring clutch to achieve the designers goal of function, reliability and cost. All are based on the principle of utilizing the clutch spring to engage or disengage the driver and driven member by a change in spring diameter. This clutching action may be achieved by the spring either expanding or contracting to link the two members.

Our custom torsion springs, torque coils & clutch springs can be found in counterbalance mechanisms, ratchets and various types of machine components.

Associated Spring facilities are third-party certified to AS9100, ISO9001 or TS16949 and ISO 14001 depending on the markets serviced.
