Activated carbon is highly porous over a broad range of pore sizes, from cracks and crevices to molecular dimensions. It is this porosity that provides activated carbon’s unique adsorptive properties. Generally, activated carbon contains surface areas in the range of 500-2000 m²gm. “Activation” refers to the development of the adsorption properties of carbon. Adsorption occurs when the organic molecules bond to the internal pores of the activated carbon. This happens in pores slightly larger than the molecules being adsorbed, which makes it extremely important to match the molecule being adsorbed to the pore size of the activated carbon. Careful blending of filter aids and cellulose fibers with activated carbon yields sub-micronic filtration and adsorptive treatments concurrently. ErtelAlsop manufactures carbon-impregnated media in a range of removal ratings and configurations to fit most filter presses and lenticular cartridge formats. This provides standardization of carbon treatment in addition to simplicity and ease of handling and operation. Different grades of carbon, such as G60, CGP Super and S51 can be used in the manufacture of Micro-Clear™ media to provide specific adsorptive qualities. AquaKV-Pak® depth filter cartridges were developed specifically for the retention of water contamination in transformer and turbine lube oils in addition to the retention of particulate down to sub-micronic levels. Added to the retention capabilities of the Disc-Pak® is an enhanced capacity for the retention of free and dissolved water. Particle retention does not affect water-holding capacity, which has been documented at up to 120 oz. per 9 cell Pak. The AquaKv-Paks® can recondition your dielectric fluids to meet or exceed ASTM and manufacturer’s standards.

Zeta-Pak® depth filter modules are manufactured with MicroMedia providing a relatively high flow rate, zeta potential and superior retention of ultra-fine particles. The Zeta-Pak® is versatile across a wide range of applications and provides the greatest retention efficiencies of all media series.
Pentair Pentek ECP Series Pleated Cellulose Polyester Cartridges are manufactured from a special formulation of resin-impregnated cellulose and polyester fibers. This unique blend of materials provides a higher wet strength than regular cellulose cartridges. It also provides high flow rates and dirt-holding capacity, while maintaining extremely low pressure drop. The media is pleated around a polypropylene core for added strength. The pleated endcaps of the standard cartridges are immersed in a thermo-setting vinyl plastisol. The Big Blue cartridges have a molded endcap with gaskets. The pleated ends are sealed to the endcap with a thermoplastic adhesive. The overlap seam is sonically welded to reduce internal bypass, improving filtration efficiency. ECP Series Cartridge endcaps feature a color-coding system for easy identification of micron ratings: tan (1 micron), white (5 micron), blue (20 micron), and yellow (50 micron).

The MAN Series Filter Cartridges Nylon 6.6 Absolute Rated Membrane Filter Cartridges. Their Hydrophilic Nylon 6.6 membrane filter cartridges provide lower extractables than other membranes for ultrapure water filter and fine chemical applications. They have a Absolute retention from 0.1 to 0.65 microns and the charged membrane surface attracts smaller than rated pore size. Quick wet-out time reduces process start-up time. They are manufactured in Class 10, 000 clean room for highest purity and meets applicable CFR criteria and USP Class VI Biological Test for plastics. These filters are suitable for steam or autoclave sterilization and hot water or chemical sanitization.
These MB Series Melt Blown Filter Cartridges are constructed of 100% polypropylene, these industrial filter cartridges do not use any additives or surfactants that will cause foaming or other undesirable effects to the filtrate. The thermally bonded microfibers create a stable, self-supporting media that meet FDA Title 21 Code of Regulations. The fixed pore construction allows for higher dirt holding capacity without unloading.
