These valves are used in applications where sterile processes need to be maintained in the pharmaceutical and food industries without unnecessary and costly overhauls and replacement. The special characteristic of this valve is its external sterilization capability. The design is such that the critical "dead" areas of the valve, as well as the disc, body liner, and seals, can be sterilized with steam without coming in contact with the process medium.

Carbon fiber packings are not all created equal. Higher carbon purity improves the temperature and chemical resistance of the braid. Lattice braid construction from staple fibers produces a carbon packing that conforms to the stuffing box better, requiring lower gland load to seal. That lower gland load translates into a packing that will last significantly longer than those made from continuous or stretch broken filaments. It also means that there will be less frictional drag on the shaft in rotating equipment and easier operation in valves. Garlocks styles 98 and 5000 are designed to give the user the greatest return on initial investment in terms of leakage control, service life, and dependable, cost-effective product.

Garlock GYLON gasketing is a family of severe service PTFE gasketing materials manufactured using a proprietary process that imparts unique physical properties that are not obtainable through conventional manufacturing methods.The innovative GYLON manufacturing process reorients the PTFE and fillers in a way that increases the materials tensile properties and decreases the creep relaxation problems that usually plague PTFE products. In addition, the mixing process creates a homogenous material with consistent, superior physical properties that, unlike inferior skived PTFE sheet gaskets, do not fluctuate from one side of the sheet to another. Plus, our patented thermal bonding process allows us to fabricate gaskets of nearly any size.
