nstrument transformers comprise a large category of current and potential transformers for various voltage, frequency and physical size ranges. We have broken them up into several different groupings: low voltage, which are system voltages under 15kV; high frequency, operating frequency over 1kHz; and size ranges from board mount parts up to current transformers with window sizes of 254mm by 610mm. Mercury vapor ballasts are designed to drive tubular medium pressure ultraviolet lamps. There are two types of mercury vapor lamps. The most common is the medium pressure lamp with no metal additives. This lamp is available in arc lengths of 1 to 120 inches. The other type of lamp is a metal-additive-mercury-vapor lamp. The additives used in the lamp create changes in the lamps spectral output enhancing different portions of the ultraviolet spectrum. The ballast initiates and controls the arc in mercury and metal additive curing lamp. This is accomplished by providing an instantaneous high voltage to strike the elements within a mercury vapor lamp, creating a plasma that, once initiated, is sustained by the ballast. Total wattages up to 50 kilowatts can be designed. Our constant wattage ballast consists of a transformer, capacitors and igniter. The advantage of a constant-wattage ballast is that it allows for wide variations in input voltage to affect output wattage by only a few percent. These ranges can be customized to meet your applications requirements. Typical designs have an output variation of only +- 3% with an input voltage varying over a range of -15% to +10%. Constant wattage is accomplished by a resonant tank circuit in which the lamp winding is in controlled magnetic saturation with the AC capacitors, such that voltage swings on the input side have a very small impact on lamp current. An interesting feature is that these current-limiting capacitors can be switched (see schematic) in and out of the circuit to provide various lamp power levels.

About Short Arc Lamps We offer a wide range of short arc lamps, also known as compact arc lamps, with power levels ranging from 150 watts to 5000 watts in both mercury-xenon DC and xenon DC configurations. These lamps produce a highly stable uniform arc in the ultraviolet, visible, and infrared spectral ranges. Arc lengths range from less than a millimeter to approximately a centimeter. High-pressure gas discharge lamps provide the highest luminance and radiance of any continuously operated light source. Short arc lamps are used in applications such as graphic arts, photochemistry, medical, electro-optics, searchlights, stage and studio projection lighting, optical instrumentation, and military guidance and fiber optic illumination. Metering Current TransformersHill Technical offers commercial grade low cost current transformers with center window type (donut style) constructions. CTs are available in many different sizes with capabilities for measuring 50-400HZ currents of 5A to 15000A with secondaries of 0.1A, 1A and 5A (special secondary currents are available). Burden: B 0.1 through 1.8 (2.5VA to 50 VA) with Accuracy class: 0.2 to class 5.0 as per IEC 185 or class 0.3, 0.6 or 1.2 as per ANSI C 57.13. Inside diameters of up to 8.00". Many models are available as U.L. recognized devices. They can be specified with or without mounting feet and the secondary can be leads, terminals or per customer requirement.

Our UV curing lamps are medium pressure Mercury Vapor lamps that are fabricated from a pure grade of amorphous non-crystalline silicon dioxide (SiO2) with tungsten electrodes sealed in each end by experienced craftsmen on specialized lathes. It is this mix of experience, equipment, and materials combined with a unique construction technique, which yields a uv bulb of the highest quality and reliability. Extended Life versions offer life 2 to 3 times typical ultraviolet lamps. A UV curing lamp can vary in arc length from 1 inch to 180 inches. Xenon Arc Lamps and other Short Arc lamps (with arcs of 11mm to 1.5mm) are also available. Typical power levels range from 200 to 1000 watts per inch, Super UV Lamps operate at 400 WPI and above, these can improve the performance of your current uv curing system, when used as a uv replacement lamp. Metal Halide lamps are available in several different spectra. The most common arc lamp for curing uv is a mercury lamp with a peak wavelength of 365nm.

Our proven LIA's (UV Lamp Irradiator Assemblies) are UV reflector assemblies which provide an instant solution to reliable cooling of UV lamps. These lamp housings provide mounting and a highly efficient method of focusing UV energy on to the curing surface. Many engineers find that the most time consuming aspect of building a UV curing system is controlling UV bulb temperature and focusing UV energy on to the curing surface. Incorrectly maintaining lamp temperature severely degrades the performance and life of any UV lamp.
