SBEPI (Shallow Borehole EpiSensor)

  • Weight 2.3 kg (5 lbs)(85 lbs. With 40 m cable in shipping container)
  • Dynamic range 155 dB+
  • Bandwidth DC to 200 Hz
  • Outputs ± 2.5V single-ended ± 10V single-ended ± 5V differential ± 20V differential
  • Ordering Information Specify: Full-scale range, outputs, noise (standard or low) and options, if any
The Kinemetrics Model SBEPI is a cost effective triaxial downhole package useful for relatively shallow borehole installations. The unit consists of three EpiSensor force balance accelerometer modules mounted orthogonally in one small convenient package. The diameter of the SBEPI is only 2.625, making it suitable for installation in a 3 diameter hole.

With full-scale recording ranges of 0.25 to 4g, the SBEPI provides on-scale recording of earthquake motions even at near-fault locations.

The significant bandwidth of DC to 200 Hz allows engineers and scientists to study motions at higher frequencies while maintaining the very important DC response that allows simple field calibration and reduces post-processing confusion.

Output circuitry is also significantly en-hanced. Four types of outputs can be selected by the user: 2.5V single-ended, 10V single-ended, 5V differential or 20V differential. The 2.5V single-ended output is appro-priate for use with traditional Kinemetrics earthquake recording instruments. The 10V single-ended output and 20V differential output are well suited for use with a wide range of digital recorders currently on the market.

EpiSensor force balance accelerometers are also available in the HypoSensor deep borehole package, Model FBA ES-DH.

Model FBA ES-DH is a triaxial downhole package useful for deep borehole installations. The unit consists of three EpiSensor force balance accelerometer modules mounted orthogonally in one small convenient package.

Output circuitry is also significantly enhanced. Four types of outputs can be selected by the user: 2.5V single-ended, 10V single-ended, 5V differential or 20V differential. The 2.5V single-ended output is appropriate for use with traditional Kinemetrics earthquake recording instruments. The 10V single-ended output and 20V differential output are well suited for use with a wide range of digital recorders currently on the market. HypoSensor force balance accelerometers are also available in the Model SBEPI shallow borehole package.

Packet Baler 44 (PB44 Field)

The Quanterra PB44 Packet Baler is a modular, field-ready high-capacity recording system for the Quanterra Q330 ultralow- power high-resolution seismic data acquisition system.

Using sophisticated power management, and advanced telemetry for reliable data delivery, the PB44 stores up to 32GB of ready-to-use data in internationally-standardized Federation of Digital Seismic Networks MSEED format. The MSEED data are accessible either by simple media removal, or through all-new advanced easy-to-use high-level HTTP and FTP interfaces.

Deployment Modes

FAST FIELD ROTATION: In this mode, the intelligent Baler module is rapidly exchanged the operation takes about 1 minute. The recovered Baler is then off-loaded in transit to a new site or at a depot, and is prepared for the next deployment. Spares, hardware quality assurance, and rapid data recovery are all achieved in this mode with a small number of units in rotation.

OR

Simply replace the hot swappable mediano need to shut down the system. Media will failover to alternate when full. The flat MSEED file structure does not require special software to read the files: Linux, Solaris, MS Windows and MacOS can directly read the media.

SEMI-PERMANENT TELEMETRY BACKUP: The advanced telemetry capability of the Q330 permits a Baler to be installed on site with the Q330 to record an independent data stream, including any super or subset of data telemetered from the Q330. Data recorded on the Baler may be retrieved through the remote IP link to the Q330. One link: real-time and recorded data! The Q330 supports real-time data telemetry to a central site or connection via hard-wire or radio (burst or continuous) to a local low-power recording system, or both simultaneously.

FULLY-REMOTE Q330: BALER AS ROUTER. The PB44F Baler can act transparently as an IP router to handle communications with a Q330 that is accessed only through a radio link. The Baler thus provides recording, Ethernet to radio link conversion, and routing, in one economical, fully integrated package!

DATA CENTER: The PB44F Baler design provides a uniquely scalable approach. The easy-to-use powerful HTTP server allows data to be downloaded to a network at up to 400kbytes. Data from a 3-month3-channel, 40sps deployment would be recovered in only 30 minutes. Using a low-cost 10100 Ethernet switch, data from up to 10 Balers can be recovered simultaneously. Three months of data from 40 units can be recovered in only 3 hrs with NO processing of intermediate formats. Removable Baler media may be read directly.

Marmot

The Kinemetrics Marmot is a truly rugged and ultra-low power data acquisition system designed for field deployments under extreme operating conditions.

As a member of Kinemetrics Aspen product line, the Marmot represents a paradigm shift in seismic instrumentation. Designed to interface with one or more Quanterra, Kinemetrics and other third party digitizers, Marmot allows network operators the benefit of greatly enhanced data acquisition, data concentration, and field processing, and distribution to downstream data processing centers coupled with flexible communications options, including TCPIP protocol.

Marmot comes pre-loaded with BRTTs embedded version of high performance Antelope environmental monitoring software for Antelope network operators. Specifically, the Marmot Antelope has been optimized for providing very deep telemetry buffers that can take advantage of the full Marmot CF memory resources for buffering data during long telemetry outages - up to 16 Gigabytes of non-volatile raw buffer resources. This means that the MARMOT Field Processor with Antelope can seamlessly buffer over a year of data from a typical 100 sample-per-second, three component field system.
