Glass Coatings

Homepage Morgan Technical Ceramics Products Coatings Scratch Resistant Glass CoatingsScratch Resistant Glass Coatings We make a range of premium scratch resistant glass for scanner windows and other applications. Barcode scanner glass operates within an extreme environment and must withstand considerable physical wear throughout its lifetime. In the past, uncoated barcode scanner glass has been susceptible to scratching which in turn results in poor read accuracy and rate. Thanks to the high performance properties of the diamond-like coatings we use, our scratch resistant glass is hard wearing and long lasting. Our coating process produces a superior low friction surface that is hard and chemically resistant. It has been shown to significantly increase the lifetime of barcode scanning equipment, making it a more cost effective choice than uncoated glass. It also reduces point of sale costs because fewer rescans are required. We produce three barcode scanner glass products: EVERSCAN, Scanshield-C and Scanshield-UV.

Diamond Like Carbon Coatings

The Technical Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Materials offers a range of Diamonex diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings that can be used to provide a superior wear resistant chemical barrier for metal, ceramic, glass and plastic. Our polycrystalline and amorphous diamond coating materials are made using advanced chemical vapour deposition (CVD) and physical vapour deposition (PVD) processes. The benefits of these coatings include: Wear and abrasion resistanceLow frictionHigh hardnessAnti-reflectivityCorrosion resistanceDiamonex DLC coatings can be used as a gas barrier or for conformal coatings, making them an excellent choice for the coating of components in electronics, communications, semiconductor, data storage, optics, automotive, aerospace, and medical applications. The methods we use to apply our coatings including ion beam direct deposition and a line-of-sight process that can be used for flat or semi flat parts. We are able to control the thickness of coating precisely, for optimum performance

Multiphase Coatings

We are now offering a range of coatings for our ceramic products to enhance the electrical performance in distinguished applications. The single phase coatings (green) are excellent for supressing the emission of secondary electrons, which reduces surface charging effects. The multi-phase coatings (black) produce a conductive ceramic surface that enables operation of power tubes at very high voltages. The flexibility of these coatings means that surface resistivity can be tailored between 109 > 1014. These coatings are also excellent for enabling size reduction which lowers weight and hence TCO of our customers systems. We work closely with our customers to select the right coating for their application and we can ensure the coating is tailored to suit your end application. We also have the ability to measure surface resistance on complex shapes, and our reliable processes ensure production continuity and short development times.

DiamondShield Coatings

Homepage Morgan Technical Ceramics Products Coatings DiamondShield CoatingsDiamondShield Coatings Morgan Advanced Materials makes Diamondshield coatings for plastics and polymers used on consumer and portable electronic devices. When applied to plastics via chemical vapour deposition (CVD), this water-clear coating increases surface hardness to that of glass, providing enhanced durability and better abrasion-resistance and wear-resistance. Our Diamondshield coating is used to make portable electronic devices more robust by strengthening the surface hardness of plastic parts so that they are more resistant to scratching. This increased durability leads to an extended product lifespan; there is less wear on keypads and push buttons and screens maintain better clarity over time, making them easier to read. The transparent coating has a low refraction index and virtually no absorption in the visible wavelengths.
