Large gaskets can be die cut segmented, then vulcanized into a one piece construction utilizing a matching polymer and a heatpressure curing process (elastomeric material only).
Phelps is equipped to make custom gaskets using laser cutting and waterjet cutting. Many complex gasket shapes, or special materials may require these tehniques. Our gasketing experts make material recommendations based on collect application data such as temperature, pressure, media and its pH, flange size, configuration and finish, number of bolts, size, grade and location.
The PTFE is bonded to the EPDM rubber for chemical and corrosion resistance. This gasket has concentric convex sealing rings to aid optimum sealing at lower bolt loads. The self centering gasket offers superior sealing for hazard media at low bolt torque.
Many a times customers need gaskets that have too hard geometry to qualify for die-cutting. Even more complex cases demand materials that may not be suitable for waterjet and laset jet cutting. To solve these unique requirements, Phelps has vast experience in hand-cutting with the help of precision instruments.
Dies constructed in-plant of high grade steel permit almost any flat gasket to be die cut from sheet. Automatic presses facilitate precision high speed production with maximum economy. Gaskets too large to be produced in one piece or uneconomic due to high cost of wasted material can be die cut into self locking sections. These sections are supplied separately, ready for assembly during installation.
Phelps carries large inventory of gasket material for a wide range of application in many industries including water treatment, refineries, food processing, power plants, and other industrial applications. Although 18" and 116" are the most commonly ordered thickess, we carry a wide range of thickness to choose from.
