Metal Braided Hose

Standard braided corrugated metal hose, also known as flexible metal hose, consists of three major components: a corrugated inner core hose, a outer braid cover, and a braid sleeve (ferrule). These components are put together and are welded at each end of the length by using a cap weld process known as the seal pass. End fittings are then selected and welded to the seal pass ends in order to complete the final hose assembly. Corrugated metal hose and braid is available in 304, 321, 316L stainless steel grades, Bronze, Monel and Hastelloy. Special metals are also available upon request.

The Ultra High Pressure (series 1000) hose is constructed of an inner core of carbon black static dissipative PTFE. A multitude of stainless steel wires are braided together, forming a single braid of protection. In larger sizes, (34 through 1 12), an additional layer of braid is added between the PTFE inner core and the outer braid. The post-sintered tube increases its density, reducing effusion in pneumatic applications. Also available for liquid and hydraulic applications, a non-sintered PTFE tube provides lower costs without sacrificing performance.

Jack-Chem has been custom engineered for lasting service in the most demanding applications. Jack Chem is constructed with a smooth; non-stick FDA approved white FEP fluoropolymer liner. (PTFE and PFA liners can be custom ordered.) Two plies of synthetic rubber reinforced with horizontal fabric braid are permanently bonded to the FEP tube. A wire helix is included to support the shape in full vacuum service and to prevent kinking. This also provides a grounding path for electrical charges through the exterior body of the hose. For materials that create static buildup on the inner FEP liner, a black conductive FEP liner is required to dissipate the charge. The entire hose is protected by an abrasion resistant and weather resistant rubber cover that will not fade or discolor with age.

The braid functions as a pressure carrier and protective covering. Smoothbore Teflon hose is found in many of the toughest service applications, handling problem fluids such as acids, solvents, fuels, and chemicals of all types. Available with thin or heavy wall tubing of PTFE (polytetrafluoro-ethylene).

Teflon Braided Hose

SSB Teflon hoses are engineered and manufactured for maximum flexibility and performance against the broadest range of chemicals and pressure extremes. Teflon Braided hoses are divided into two categories: Smoothbore and Convoluted (also known as corrugated). Both designs incorporate a Teflon tube core with an outer cover construction which provides its strength when coupled with the proper crimp style fittings. The Teflon tube is available in many different fluoropolymers such as PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), FEP (Fluorinated ethylene propylene), and PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy). Each of these fluoropolymers have different chemical resistant properties and temperature resistant properties. There are many advantages and disadvantages for both types of tube construction. Each application must be evaluated in order to insure that the correct type of hose is used. Some applications require the inner core to be conductive to dissipate static build up. SSB Hose offers both non-conductive (natural) and conductive (black) inner core Teflon tubes. The hose cover usually consists of a stainless steel metal braid construction similar to the metal corrugated hose and or EPDM rubber covered. Special cover materials are also available upon request.
