Seismic Gas Shutoff Valves

  • Model 302
  • Size 1-1/4"
CALIFORNIA (formerly known as Koso) Seismic Gas Shutoff Valves are installed throughout the U.S. and in many countries at risk from earthquakes. They performed well during the 1994 Northridge earthquake. CALIFORNIA Valves have a simple operation principle, remain closed when tilted or bumped, and must be manually reset, which enables safety inspections for leaks and other hazards to be done before gas service is restored. CALIFORNIA Valves have excellent flow characteristics, and may be selected based on the size of a properly sized houseline. CALIFORNIA Valves installed upstream of multiple houselines should be selected based on the sum of the areas of each houseline. CALIFORNIA Valves have a visual openclosed indicator and pressure ratings up to 60 psi. For all sizes, from " through 8", we supply models designed for horizontal flow, vertical flow from the bottom in, or vertical flow from the top in. Valve ends are threaded for " through 1-12" models, threaded or flanged for 2" through 4" models, and flanged for 6" and 8" models. Optional devices available at the time of order for any model of CALIFORNIA Valve can enable remote actuation or remote position monitoring.

Seismic Switch

  • Model Number 510
Model 510 Seismic Switch is designed to actuate during a strong earthquake. When the seismic switch is tripped, a red bar will appear in the window located in the top cover.

Model 510 is a double-pole, double-throw switch, with two normally open contacts, two normally closed contacts, and two ground contacts. Model 510 is UL listed for outdoor use, and certified by Californias Division of the State Architect.

Mount the Model 510 to the wall or other rigid support with wood screws or butterfly anchors. Level the unit by adjusting the 4 elevator feet so that the chain on the side of the unit passes through the hole in its bracket without touching the sides of the hole. Connect conduit and wire per applicable code requirements.

Model 510 must be manually reset. To reset Model 510, turn the reset shaft on the righthand side of the top of the unit with a screwdriver or wrench in the counterclockwise direction until the green bar appears and remains visible in the window when the screwdriver or wrench is released. If the green bar does not appear, repeat this procedure. If the Model 510 will not reset, check leveling of chain passing through hole. Re-level the Model 510 if necessary.

POSEIDON Facility Monitoring System

  • Analog inputs 24 bit; 10—480 samples/sec; up to 120-dB
POSEIDON is a facilities monitoring and warning system compatible with existing cable
infrastructure for easy and low-cost connectivity. NetDAS sensory data are transmitted
continuously to the Base Station via the Ethernet, wireless, fibreoptic, or analog cable (downhole
and wired arrays). The Base Station provides real-time recording, warning messages and
status indicators, graphical display, relay closures, and bridging to other plant networks.
POSEIDON is configured to meet each customers specific requirements and is delivered as a
turn-key system with complete operational manuals, on-site training and FactorySite
Acceptance Test procedures.

Seismic Three-Way Valve

  • Model 400
Model 400 Seismic Three-Way Valve is designed to actuate during strong earthquake shaking. When you receive the Model 400, it will be in its actuated position. When the Model 400 is actuated, a red bar is visible through the window in the position indicator located on top of the valve just above the clamp band.

Model 400 must be manually reset. Using a screwdriver or wrench, apply light force to rotate the reset shaft counterclockwise until the green bar is visible through the window. Release pressure on the screwdriver or wrench, and the reset shaft will return to its original position. The green bar will remain visible through the window. Model 400 Seismic Three-Way Valve will now be in its normal operating position, and the acceleration trigger mechanism will be set to respond to seismic disturbances.

Remote Actuator

  • Model 501
Model 501 Remote Actuator will trip a CALIFORNIA Valve when a 24-VAC or 24-VDC signal is present.
Applications include panic switches, fire or sprinkler alarms, fire-suppression systems, and gas sensors. Signals from those systems can trip relays to supply the necessary power to activate the Model 501.
The power draw on Model 501 is 15 Watts. The source of power is usually a 24-V backup, on-line power supply.
Model 501 is an optional feature that is mounted on the seismic valve by the factory at the time of manufacture.
A CALIFORNIA Valve with a factory-mounted Model 501 will trip during a violent earthquake or when an electrical signal is present.

Flexible Pipe Loops

  • Size 1/2" through 12"
We supply flexible pipe loops known asTri-Flex Loops, which are capable of simultaneous random movement in three axes. No pipeline guides are required.

Summary of features:

1) Tri-Flex Loops have six degrees of freedom for simultaneous movement capability (i.e., the 3 mutually orthogonal axes [x, y, & z], & rotation about each of those axes).Tri-Flex Loops are the safest and most reliable means of absorbing piping system movements produced during earthquakes.

2) Pipe-alignment guides are not required for Tri-Flex Loops, which saves time and money.

3) Standard Tri-Flex Loop models have +-2" or +- 4" of movement capability; custom models can be made with nearly any amount of movement capability (e.g., +- 16" or +- 24" for base-isolated buildings).

4) Standard sizes are 12" through 12"; custom models can be made as large as 30".

5) Standard Tri-Flex Loop models in sizes from 1 through 4 are UL listed to UL536 for use in lines carrying combustible gases or flammable liquids operated at pressures as high as 175 psi at ambient temperature. Custom loops can be made to handle pressures as high as 1, 375 psi and operating temperatures of -400 F to 1500 F.
