oyal 5C Collet Closers enable 5C collets to be used on any manual lathe or workhead. Royal collet closers can also be installed on CNC lathes that are not equipped with hydraulic actuators. For CNC lathes that already have hydraulic actuators, we recommend you check out our comprehensive line of CNC collet chucks. Collet closers improve productivity by handling many turning jobs faster and more accurately than standard three-jaw lathe chucks. Other advantages include 360° workpiece contact and improved tool clearance. Please note that Royal collet closers are not stock items — they incorporate several components that are custom-machined to fit each individual lathe spindle. We normally build and ship all collet closers within two weeks of the order date. Coolant-Actuated CNC Bar Pullers

The patented Grippex 20L CNC Bar Puller is actuated by a CNC lathe's coolant system. As coolant is fed through the unit, it pushes a piston forward which causes the fingers to close down on the bar stock. When the coolant is turned off, the fingers automatically spring open. With this bar puller, no adjustment by the operator is necessary - the fingers simply close down until they contact the bar. This feature is especially useful for making multiple pulls on the same workpiece, even after the OD has been turned. The Grippex Coolant Actuated Bar Puller is also useful as a part loaderunloader. When fitted with special jaws, this tool can: Remove finished parts from a machine's subspindle and place them into the parts catcher. This eliminates the need for unreliable ejectors and enables the subspindle to swallow longer parts. Remove a bar remnant and drop it in the parts catcher for disposal. This prevents the remnant from falling into the chip conveyor where it could become jammed and cause damage to the conveyor. The Royal Grippex Bar Puller achieves very high gripping force through a patented finger mechanism that pivots on roller bearings. As little as 15 psi of coolant pressure is enough to enable the Grippex to pull a 210 lb. bar! Unit can also be operated by air pressure for custom applications.

The chuck stop enables short parts to project beyond the chuck jaws, providing clearance for facing operations. Quick-Change Tool System

The Royal Easychange R8 Quick-Change Tool System provides a fast method for changing tools on any Bridgerport-style milling machine. Once the R8 body is installed in the machine spindle, tools can be changed in seconds. Total system runout is less than 0.0005” TIR. Easychange operation is simple — with one hand simply depress the brass locking button and rotate the collar to the locked-open position. When a new tool is inserted, it depresses a spring-loaded pin, snapping the collar back into the locked-closed position. Please note that the Royal Easychange R8 Quick-Change Tool System is designed for lightmedium-duty applications where the ability to change tools quickly outweighs the need for extreme rigidity. We do not recommend using this system for heavy milling or high-production applications.

Sensitive Drill Feeds

The Royal sensitive drill feed provides fingertip control when drilling very small holes on a drill press or milling machine. This tool bypasses the machine’s coarse quill feed, giving the operator better feel and control of the feed rate. Breakage of small diameter drills is greatly reduced and the tendency for drill “walking” is minimized. The Royal sensitive drill feed has a 12" straight shank that can be gripped in a collet or toolholder, and a male J0 taper for mounting a drill chuck. A ball bearing isolates the knurled ring from the rotating spindle. To operate the Royal sensitive drill feed, simply grasp the free-turning knurled ring and feed into the workpiece with gentle finger pressure. An internal spring enables the drill feed to retract when the ring is released. Total travel is 34".
