Trucking Metal Brackets Heat Treatment

Z&L Machining, Inc. was approached by an Illinois based truck manufacturing company to cast and heat-treat metal brackets. To complete the order, we attained heat-treated, austemptered, ductile iron castings which were primed in black. We then took the castings and drilled holes, deburred and milled flats and spotfaces using a Mazak H630 CNC mill.

We were able to complete ten, 10.250" x 8.50" x 4.25" metal brackets all within tightest tolerances of +- .010". To ensure the best quality, Z & L tested and inspected the brackets using a hardness tester, micrometer, caliper and a CMM. If you want to learn more about this metal bracket or any of our other projects, please contact Z & L Machining or read the detailed specs below.

Fabrication Of Boss Weldment For The Construction Industry

A heavy construction equipment company from Georgia came to Z&L Machining, Inc. to fabricate a steel boss weldment. To fill this order, Z & L started with hot rolled 1026 steel tubing and steel forging. The tubing was cut to a length of 10.750" .020" using a Kasto saw. Then we utilized our high quality Mazak CNC lathe to face, bore and chamfer both ends of the tube. Finally, we welded the bosses to the tube using a Miller MIG welder.

Each of the 98 lbs. steel weldments was tested with a caliper and is within tightest tolerances of +- .008" OAL. If you need more information about these unique, steel weldments see the project highlights below. If you want to create your own custom weldment please contact Z & L Machining, Inc. today.
