Coil Cords

Durability, low force-to-extend, excellent retractile memory, and high flex life are all-important customer requirements for our coiled cords. Through decades of experience, we have developed unique manufacturing techniques. Today we are applying the best of those ideas in our new manufacturing environment. From 12 AWG to very fine wire 38 AWG and tinsel, our coiled cords are manufactured in single- or multi-conductor configurations. Standard and extra-flexible stranded conductors are available in both copper and high-strength copper alloys.

Clinical Chemistry Equipment Coiled Cord

Engineers developing a new clinical blood analyzer were on the hunt for a competitive turnkey solution for their complex cable challenges. They needed a coiled cord with connectors, a photo sensor, and an intricate compound curve strain relief with overmolded printed circuit board. They knew not just anyone could develop this cordthey needed a partner they could depend upon for high-quality components and assembly. After auditing our Mexico plant, the engineers knew theyd found their supplier. Working with their team, our engineers analyzed the cable design, spotted potential manufacturing problems, and offered viable design options. We solved the issue of retractile cord wear on the blood analyzers rotating shaft by anchoring the cord with a small Christmas tree off the shaft axis. The resulting cord allows for rotation without abrasion while meeting additional exacting specifications. Custom Coiled Cords

Our custom coiled cords are manufactured to meet our OEM customers specific needs. When asked to produce a retractile cord with an extremely high-flex life and a very low-extension force, we designed a cord with a tinsel conductor (flat-rolled copper ribbon wound around a textile thread) and a polyurethane jacket. The result is a coiled cord with the feel and performance characteristics that our customer was seeking. It provides a flex life that exceeds 500, 000 cycle bends*, and has excellent retractile memory and abrasion resistance.

Automotive Coiled Cords

Built for the major auto companies, high-strand-count, high-flex rope or concentric lay conductors are incorporated into our coiled cords for SUVs. Because these vehicles operate in a wide range of temperatures, from deserts to the arctic, the coiled cords are typically jacketed with polyester or polyurethane. By combining high-flex strand with the proper jacketing materials, the automakers obtain products that are durable and abrasion resistant with outstanding retractile memory.
