Lotus Blossom brings the element of water to life. Perched atop an opalescent shell, Lotus Blossom portrays a vision of compassion. Her reclining body is relaxed as she surveys the still water upon which she drifts, at her feet floats a single Lotus Blossom. The Lotus plant begins its life in darkness and mud at the bottom of a lake. As the stem grows it becomes strengthened, it remains bendable, but maintains the rigidity needed to grow towards the surface. As the plant grows out of the water and reaches brightness and air, it blooms into a beautiful flower. The Lotus plants life cycle is used as a metaphor for the human condition in many eastern belief systems. This sculpture is a meditation on rejuvenation reached through peace and transcendence.
