A jacketed vessel is a container that controls the temperature of its contents. This is achieved by wrapping an outer sleeve, or jacket, around the container and heating or cooling it as the application dictates. Hot water, steam, oil or gases are used as heating or cooling agents, and are contained within the jacket. Jacketed vessels are used in a variety of industries, including chemical, pharmaceutical, educational, food and the creation of dyes.

Abrasive blasting consists of directing a stream of compressed air and abrasive material against a surface to smooth, roughen or shape it. The process is also used to remove exterior dirt, rust and other undesirable elements.

Generally, there are two methods of applying the abrasive substance; dry and wet. Dry applications involve a pressurized vessel containing an abrasive media, which controls its flow into a compressed air stream. In wet blasting, the abrasive material is added to a pressurized stream of water or other liquid.

Numerous abrasives may be used in the process such as aluminum oxide, glass beads, steel shot, metal pellets and soda powders.

Stainless steel is the preferred construction material for a wide variety of vessels. It contains a much higher chromium content than carbon steel, and therefore doesnt oxidize, stain, corrode or rust as easily, and also offers better antibacterial properties. Carbon steel can rust when exposed to air and humidity, and must be finished or lined with a protective surface, such as Teflon, paint, zinc plating, epoxy, etc. Stainless steel possesses enough chromium so that it forms an invisible film of chromium oxide, which prevents surface corrosion.

LaGrange Products Handy Air is hydrostatically tested at 225 PSI and comes with a 5-year limited warranty.
