It is common along beaches, sandbars, mangrove creeks and estuaries. They usually are found forming schools and adults bury themselves in the sand when disturbed. Lady Fish mainly feeds on polychaete worms, small prawns, shrimps and amphipods, Oviparous, Larvae and juveniles are pelagic feeding on planktons.

Mullet is a costal specie which is also found in estuaries and freshwater. It usually feeds on detritus, algae and small bottom organisms, taken in with sand and mud and rejecting the indigestible parts. They usually travel in schools and form large aggregations when spawning takes places. Grey Mullet is very popular amongst the locals in the Makran Coastal region where it is their preference over other fishes for personal consumption.

Leather Jacket fish is found over sandy, weedy bottoms upto 100 m deep. It usually feeds on benthic animals. It is known as Leather Jacket because of the texture of the skin on the fish.
