McNICHOLS® Bar Grating can meet almost any load bearing or weight requirement and is the most durable grating for rugged applications. Bar grating is a top choice for strength, safety, and long-term cost. Bar Grating consists of a series of bearing bars welded (or otherwise joined) at various intervals to perpendicular cross bars to form a load-bearing panel. Panels are manufactured by welding, locked by swaging, or press-locked processes. A typical panel configuration has bearing bars that are spaced 1-3 16 inches (center to center) with perpendicular cross bars spaced 4 inches apart (center to center). Other spacings are available to meet your loading and open area requirements. Bar Grating is available in a wide selection of panel sizes; bar sizes and spacings; bar shapes; and material types. Whether you require McNICHOLS Ladder Rungs or Ladder Rung Covers, we have a wide selection of styles--Grip Strut®, Traction Tread™, and Diamondback® Rungs. Rungs are available in many sizes and materials such as: plain, stainless or galvanized steel, as well as aluminum. We also carry Grip Tight® Rung Covers with slip resistant aluminum oxide grit over galvanized metal. When strength, safety and weight are considerations in addition to corrosion resistance, self-cleaning and low maintenance benefits –McNICHOLS Rungs are the product of choice. All styles have degrees of slip resistance to provide dependable footing indoors and out. McNICHOLS® Flattened Expanded Metal diamond-shaped openings are flatter and smoother than the Standard Expanded Metal patterns, having been run through a flattening process. This process elongates the short way of the diamond pattern. This product comes in a wide variety of opening sizes (long way of the diamond – 2.75 to .30 inches), gauges (thickness of strand), and materials (plain or galvanized steel, aluminum or stainless steel). Sheet size choices typically range from three to eight foot widths and eight to twelve foot lengths. Others are available by special order. When strength and durability are a requirement for heavy traffic loads Metal Floor Plate may be the answer. Your choices include three styles of slip resistant plate “surfaces”— gritted, raised perforated buttons that also drain, or a less aggressive checker plate surface. McNICHOLS® Quality Molded Fiberglass Stair Tread Covers are intended to provide a cost-effective slip resistant surface cover for existing concrete, metal or wood steps. They are an easy way to increase the safety of stairways through their durable gritted surface. Tread covers are made from a molded polyester mat that is corrosion resistant and are fire retardant. Covers are black with highly visible yellow nosing and are available from stock in 9 and 10 inch widths by 12 foot lengths.
