This allows the bearing to have amuch slimmer cross section, making them ideal forapplications where a much more compact bearing isneeded. There is also more surface area than that of a standard ball bearing, giving themexcellent load handling capability. Although needle bearings are available with inner races, depending on the application the inner race can be discarded and the rollers can make directcontact with the rotating shaft. Cogged V-belts are most commonly used on air-handling equipmentthat uses small diameter pulleys. The cogged design allows for the belt to flex more easily whilemoving on the pulley, reducing stress on the belt.
