MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value. MERV filter ratings are on a scale of 1-20 of how effectively a filter traps small particles. The higher the number, the higher the amount of particles the filter traps. Its important to note that the number represents the filters lowest possible performance, not its best.
