Suitable for continuous operation at temperatures from -60F (-50C) to 400F (204C) and for intermittent use from -80F (-62C) to 450F (232C). Red iron-oxide formulations are suitable for continuous use up to 480F (250C). Depending on media and application useful life at temperatures up to 570F (300C) may be obtained. Chemically stable and suitable for use with many acids and alkalis. Resistant to ozone, UV and corona discharge. Electrically insulating with dielectric strength 500 Vmil. Inherently low flammability and low smoke. No harmful toxic or physiological effects (RoHS and REACH compliant). Natural translucent, white, and red silicone rubber sheet is compliant with FDA 21 CFR 177-2600 for use in food contact applications.

SS expanded cellular silicone rubber has a predominantly closed cell structure with an integral smooth surface skin, leading to very low water absorption. It has high compressibility and low compression set over a wide temperature range, making it an ideal choice for gaskets and seals. It has excellent thermal insulation properties and is also a good acoustic insulation material at the temperature extremes where thermoplastic foams cannot be used. GS-N5 is a high quality, high temperature electrical insulation sleeving consisting of an extrusion coating of specially formulated silicone rubber over closely braided, electrical grade fiberglass. Fiberglass pre-treatments result in strong adhesion between glass sleeve and silicone coating. The high pressure coating process ensures a smooth, even surface, without the wall thickness variation and the pimples and protrusions of broken fibers which are typical of sleevings produced by some alternative coating systems. GS-N5 sleeving is also characterized by its flexibility and smooth, firm inner wall, allowing easy cable insertion. GS-N5-FR contains additional flame retardants and is self extinguishing when tested according to the UL1441 VW-1 vertical flammability test. GS250 is a high temperature grade, available in red only, suitable for continuous use at 480oF (250oC). Other properties are similar to GS-N5. GS-N5-HW is a special, heavy wall construction of the GS-N5 sleeving for use in high voltage or high stress applications. The HW fiberglass braid construction provides excellent mechanical strength and the thick silicone rubber coating results in a dielectric breakdown strength in excess of 15kV Manufactured for Ipotec in an ISOTS 16949 quality assured plant by BIW Isolierstoffe GmbH.
