Rod elements are widely used in industry for convection heating, conduction heating and radiation heating. They can vary considerably in shape and size and are used extensively in Lindberg and Old Sauder type furnace apparatus. Heating rods are versatile because they can be bent into any shape and operate at high temperatures. National Element Inc. uses NIKChrome® alloys and Iron-Chrome-Aluminum Alloys and pure molybdenum in manufacturing electrical rod elements. Rod heating element sets are typically mounted on sidewalls, floor, door and back wall. Most elements are kinked to raise it off of any insulation. Floor elements are often suspended on piers to allow for debris to collect underneath the elements. NEI carries a full compliment of terminals for rod elements and machine to accommodate electrical terminal clamps.ENGINEERING SPECS Rod sizes begin at 6 GA. The electrical path of the Firebar® radiates outward from the central core providing effective heat for the full length of the radiant tube. The Firebar® design concept allows replacement of individual conductors without replacing the complete unit. 80Ni-20Cr heavy round rod conductors make Firebar® compatible for many different applications that need specialty alloys. Each circuit contains a thermocouple for control start up. Stock shipments include operating instructions, terminals, insulation, all internal connections, and, if necessary, a base plate for vertical operation. Seamless bushings provide better strength and roundness than conventional formed bushings and there is no gap to fill up with dirt or sludge. NEI heat treats each chain pin, roller and bushing for extra wear resistance. Attention to detail at every level including: press fit bushings to lock against rotation for long service life, sidebar hole flats to accommodate standard pins and oversize rollers to provide a rolling rather than sliding action to reduce drag load. Each component undergoes strict inspection during the manufacturing process.
