The Posi-Leveler™ allows for motorized adjustment of the beams central lifting point during the lift to always maintain a balanced load. This feature can be used for fine adjustment of the center of gravity during the lift. Leveling uneven loads during the lift saves rigging time and promotes a safer work environment. This method ensures that the rope ends will not ‘unravel’ or ‘flare open’ when the rope is installed or handled. The Fusing and Tapering method is also welcomed by anyone who has to install ropes into wedge sockets or who has to re-reeve hoisting ropes on a mobile crane. All non-rotating rope ends are dipped in a red plastic powder. There is no real technical reason for it other than that you can find the rope end much easier while re-configurating the number of line parts in your hoisting block. Becket Loops are swaged onto the rope end for installation purposes only. When installing a new wire rope a becket loop allows to connect the old rope to the new rope without the aid of cable grips. The diameter of UNI-LOC® Becket Loop Sleeves is slightly larger than the rope diameter itself.
Cable Grips for Wire Rope Installation are made from a wire hollow braid. They are being pushed over the rope end and tighten as soon as tension is applied. Our cable grips are made from a heavy duty strand which is much stiffer and much stronger than the one commonly used for electrical cable installations. Also, our grips are much longer in length to provide increased holding and gripping force. Most common type for smaller diameter ropes is ‘Open Ended‘ to pull same sized wire ropes. ‘Loop Ended‘ are preferred for larger diameter ropes. They allow to install a swivel between the grips to compensate for rope rotation.

We use Heavy Duty thimbles with all UNI-LOC® wire rope slings. They withstand the working load conditions of the slings but when severely overloaded they will noticeably stretch. Note that you can not feed this thimble through an identical one to make a choker hitch (use Slip-Through Thimbles).

The ready made strands are forced through drawing dies which compress and shape the individual wires to have a flat outer surface. The advantages are: • increased strength • less wire interlocking on multiple layer drums • less contact pressures onto sheaves and drums • reduces constructional stretch • better fatigue life
This process is usually applied to Python® DoPar type wire ropes or where the rope core is plastic coated. This process is applied after the rope has been manufactured and compresses the entire rope circumference. Individual surface wires are shaped flat as well as closing strand gaps. The advantages are: • increased strength • less wire interlocking on multiple drums • embedding strands into plastic coated cores • achieve tighter diameter tolerances • reduces constructional rope stretch to near zero
The fabrication and attachment of wire rope end fittings onto a wire rope is a core competency of Unirope. Since the beginning of the 1960’s we have provided this service and have since gained second to none expertise and accumulated engineering experience. From a simple flemish eye splice which forms the basic of a lifting sling to complicated purpose design fittings for engineered lifting solutions: we are your partner. Our fabrication shop is specifically designed to handle these tasks. Our wire rope department has a total of 11 rope swagers ranging from 35 up to 1500 tons capacity which enables us to swage fittings of up to a 2-12″ rope diameter, and to socket fittings of up 6″ rope diameter. Our processes comply to standards established by recognized fitting system provides (Crosby, OnePress) as well as international specifications like DIN 309230933088, ISO, and EN 13411. The manufacturing process at our plant is controlled by our ISO 9001 Quality System.
Solid Thimbles are used where the sling (or rope) is connected to a straight pin. This makes an excellent permanent installation. Within certain limitations we can increase or bush the bore hole, or we can mill down dimension ‘H’ to fit a narrower slot. These thimbles are mainly used on crane ropes.
